Format:
            It is used to format the disk to use MSDOS. It helps to delete all files and directories of that drive. It is an external command.
Process:
First shut down you computer. Then insert the bootable disk in drive A. Then open your computer. Wait for few sec then appears
A:\>fromat c:<--/
comes their message
press y
wait for few min, when finish the format process or 100% complete. Then comes there message then type the label name and press enter
Note:
/s-for format with system file transfer
/q-for quick format
 

 

 

















 
           
   
Fdisk:
This command is used for disk partition. First you should have to know weather the disk is already have partition or not. If there is already partition then you should have to delete that partition. If there is no partition then you should not have to delete the partition. Note that your new hard disk doesn’t have partition at all.
1: Boot your computer from bootable floppy disk.

To delete partition
A:\>fdisk<--
Press Y and press enter
1. Create DOS Partition or logical DOS Drive
2. Set active partition
3. Delete partition or logical DOS Drive
4. Display partition information

To delete type the no 3 and press enter
1. Delete Primary DOS Partition
2. Delete Extended DOS Partition
3. Delete Logical DOS Drive(s) in the extended DOS Partition
4. Delete Non-DOS Partition
If there is only one drive then start with the no 1
If you had more than one drive like c: d: e: etc then you should have to start with 3
>Type dive name and press enter.
>Type the volume label name and press enter
>Type "y" in the "Are you sure (Y/N)?"and press enter.
>Press esc key to continue or return to fdisk option
>Again Press Esc key
>Again press 3 key and press enter
>Press "Y" to delete and press enter
>Press esc key
>Again press 3 Key and press enter
>Press 1 and press enter
>Press enter key
>Type the volume label name and press enter
>Press Y in "Are you sure (Y/N)?"and enter
>Press Esc key to continue or return to fdisk options
>Again press ESC key to return to A:\>
>Now restart the computer
By doing all this steps your disk partition will be deleted permanently.
Disk Partition
>Boot your computer with the help of bootable disk.
A:\>fdisk<--
Press y and press enter.
Press 1 key for "Create DOS partition or logical DOS Drive"
The three options will be displayed
1.Create Primary DOS partition
2.Create Extended DOS partition
3.Create Logical DOS Drive(s)in the extended DOS Partition
Note you should have to create the primary DOS partition before creating the logical DOS Partition. so you should have to start from the option 1
>Press 1 and press enter and wait for few sec
A message will appear
"Do you wish to use the maximum available size for the Primary DOS Partition and make the partition active (Y/N).........?(  )"
Note: If you wish to make single drive C then press y otherwise press n key and press enter.
> Press n and press enter.
Then the message will appear.
"Enter partition size in Mbytes or percentage of the disk space(%) to create a Primary DOS Partition...............?[     ]"
>Enter the drive size for drive C: in percentage or Mbytes (eg:[50%]) and press enter.
>Press esc key
>Again press 1 key and press enter
>Press 2 to create Extended DOS Partition (D: E: F: etc) and press enter.
>Again press enter key
>press esc key
Now you have created the c: And D: drives
After you have created the disk partition you should have to make any one drive active. Usually we activate the drive C:
To activate the partition:
>Press 2 key from the fdisk main option and press enter
2.Set active partition
A message will appear
"Enter the no of the partition you want to make active"
>Press 1 Key and press enter.
>Press esc key continuously until you get A:\>
>Now restart the computer
Note you should have to format all the drive present after you have created the partition
