Fingolfin Cold reigned the night The King of Noldor rode on Now the hope of glory Forth led him The King has come To the Iron Prison The King has come His death to meet The dark clouds thickened The moon has hid The cruel time has quickened My King was slain. The King has come To fight the Black Enemy The King has come His doom to meet |

| Authors Notes: I am fully aware that the second and fourth stanzas have different meter than the first and the third. It is intentional. I wrote original not-really-poem in English, then started working on Quenya version. The words were chosen so that the QUENYA version sounds right. Then I finished it to my satisfaction (if you spot a mistake, let me know, please!) and translated into English. The translation is not always literal. |
