PART 9 (R - Temptations III)

They entered the room and she went to her desk and began the search for the modem. He sat on her bed watching as her hips swayed as she pivoted back and forth trying to find it.

“I know I had it here, I just don’t know where. Maybe I have in the box...” she went over to the bed. “Move your feet.” He leaned back on the bed and put his feet on the bed. “Great, now my bed’s all dirty from your boots.”

“I happen to like my boots.”

“I do too, I’m just saying could you clean them every once and a while?”

            “No.”

“That’s your answer for everything.” She dropped to her knees and bent down on the floor, looking under the bed for a couple minutes.

            “Not everything.”

            “What?”

“No isn’t my answer for everything. What do you have under there a body?”

            “No, it’s just stuff.”

“What stuff?” He got down on the floor on the other side of the bed and peeked underneath and flashed a smile at her, she couldn’t help but giggling, but quickly regained her composure.

“Private stuff.” He stood up again and walked around to look at her body on the ground.

            “Sorry.”

“Here it is!” She got up and he was right behind her. She turned around quickly and he was standing right there. She smashed into his chest. “Oof. Sorry.”

“Don’t be.” He said as he pulled her to him and took her lips to his. She took a couple seconds, but she came around and kissed him back. Her arms slid up around his neck and into his hair, his took her waist yet again and pressed her into him. It had indeed been too long.

“Spike, NO!” She pulled away and he let her go. She wasn’t playing, Dru did, but she didn’t. “This is insane! Insanity! Me human, you not, and besides, we hate you! Whatever you want to call this sick attraction, it’s stopping right now.”

“Maybe it is insane, but isn’t is nice to be insane every now and then? To be a little crazy when everything else is chaos, letting go of reason, giving in, it’s what the world is about Red.”

“No, the world is not about that, the world is about helping people and living your life, of which you don’t have, it’s about finding that one person you want to spend forever with, and settling down and having kids and a job and growing old and dying. That’s what life is about.”

            “Aren’t you curious?”

            “Curious about what?”

He slid an arm around her and nuzzled her neck. “About a vampire.”

“Spike, you’re insane.” She pushed him away.

“YES! Yes I am, but you and Buffy must have talked about it, about her and Angel, aren’t you curious about what it’s like with someone with... what would you call it, an ‘oral fixation’?”

“This conversation is over.” She turned away from him. Her pulse was racing a mile a minute. She had thought about it more times than he could even imagine. Buffy had told her what it had felt like, cold and fulfilling, exhilarating and passionate, like a drug you could never get enough of. She said he was so strong and experienced, which she hadn’t wanted to think about. How many women Angel had been with? Spike, at least was fairly monogamous to their knowledge.

He tapped her shoulder and she turned around. “Your face is red. You have thought about it.”

“So what, anyone can have fantasies, I’ve also thought about Tom Cruise, big deal.”

“Let me show you.” He kissed her neck, grazed it lightly with the tip of his tongue. She lost control of her senses but regained them quickly.

“Spike why do you want this so badly? Just cause your girlfriend left and Harmony won’t take you doesn’t mean you make a play for the Slayers best friend. Just cause Oz left, doesn’t mean I’m this desperate.”

“Who said anything about desperate? I’m just saying some fun, amidst chaos. Let me show you what it’s like.” His hand moved under her shirt and began rubbing her ski, his hands were cold and she shivered at his gentle graze. She hadn’t ever thought he could be that tender. He continued the trail of kisses from her neck to her mouth. Was this something she wanted? Yes. Was it something she should do? No. She pulled away, but he pulled her back and she was glad. She gave herself to him, stopped fighting.

She moved her hands to his shoulders and pushed off his jacket, and his red shirt. He unbuttoned her shirt and trailed kisses all over, down to her navel. She pulled at his t-shirt and it came off, not even breaking the kisses. How’d he do that? Years of practice. He picked her up, pressing her against his skin. He was cold, cold and pale, but beautiful, muscular. He put her down on the bed and climbed over her and their legs entangled and his kept his kisses moving, his tongue, lips, hands, everywhere, moving, sending shivers down her spine. She wanted him to touch her everywhere all at once, and he practically was.

Before she knew it, her bra was off and his mouth was all over her skin, licking and sucking. Her eyes rolled back and she just let him work his magic, he was talented with his mouth, she couldn’t even imagine what it would be like if he moved further down than her navel. She wanted him to.

Then the phone rang. “DAMMIT! Spike, get off.” She dashed to the phone. “Hello?... yes... yes... I found it... yup, got it... see you in a little while... a hundred dollars... got it bye Buffy.”

            “Where were we?” He asked.

“Nowhere, we’re going back, they have an idea about the impending doom, so we have to get back and do more searches.” She looked at him, she was regretting answering the phone. She grabbed her shirt and quickly put it on, before he had a chance to get her. He followed suit. “We have to stop by the butcher shop first, they’re out of blood, with you and Angel there... we have to get more, and ewww.”

            “What?”

“What? Blood you idiot. How gross, really. You have to admit, it’s pretty vial.”

“Easy for you to say, you don’t count on it for survival.” As they left the room he looked back and commented “Pity, we could have had a lot of fun.”

“Just as well, it’s not a good idea.”

“What, you need to have some fun, let go, relax for a change. And what, it’s okay for Buffy, but not for you? I’m not going to lose my soul, if that’s what you’re worried about.”

“No, Spike, I’m worried about the fact that you don’t have one.”

PART 10 (R - Girl Talk)

She sat on the counter in the kitchen reading. The energy in the room was enough to blind her; she always felt that pull when in a room with her. In her last year of high school, she had learned to accept it, to ignore it, but now he was here, and her immunity to it had weakened. She was weak at the knees and she felt like if she tried to walk, she’d fall. Her head was spinning.

            “Buffy?”

“God, why do you have to be so stealth? Don’t scare me like that.” She looked up and he was standing there. “You’ll give a girl a heart attack, which is something that I don’t need right now.”

            “Sorry, I didn’t mean to.”

            “I know. What’s up?”

“Look,” he said as he brought the book to her, keeping it between them. “There’s a reference to a glacier, well evidence of it in California from about fifteen hundred years ago. They can’t prove it and it doesn’t make sense, since the climate wouldn’t change that dramatically, but scientists have found evidence in the strata of the soil.”

            “What’s strata?”

“The different layers of the dirt, anyway, they’ve found rocks from the mountains down in the valleys, and that’s impossible, according to scientists.”

“Oh, possible End of Days? But wouldn’t there have to have been an ascension?”

“How do you prove it, if there weren’t any people here?”

“There would have been Indians and things, we should check out Indian legends of that time too, and maybe Anya has heard of it.”

“Good idea.” He looked up from the book, which proved the wrong thing to do. Their eyes connected and hers were so sultry, filled with passion and love, and all his sexual desires. He had never thought it possible to look into someone’s eyes and see every part of your life in them, fantasies, desires, needs, everything. She felt it too, he was sure, because she wrapped her legs around his waist and pulled them closer, her still sitting on the counter. The book was smashed between them and he plunged his tongue into her mouth. Every time he was kissing her, it was unchartered territory, like she was a virgin all over again and he had to teach her.

He would teach her everything she wanted to know, everything he knew. His hands wrapped around under her shirt and fumbled a little with her bra strap. He got it off and moved his hands around in front, never breaking the kisses. He lost himself in her, her softness, her scent, her sex. That’s what it was, her sexual scent, he could smell her arousal, her fear, her anxiety, her everything, he could feel it through his kisses and touch.

It was electrical magic surging through her body.  She couldn’t tell where the memories of her first time ended and where the present began. He touched everything inside her, reached further than anyone ever could, and this was just a kiss. She imagined what it would be like to have him inside her again, twisting and turning, using her as a diving point, to delve deeper into her than he had previously done. She shuddered to think about it, for fear she might want more.

“We’re back!” Willow said as her and Spike walked in.

“SHIT!” Buffy and Angel immediately separated. The taste of him lingered in her mouth, the feel of his lips on hers, on her neck, the memory of his hands kneading her breasts. “You’re back, great. We found out a lot.”

“I’ll bet.” Spike said as he took off his jacket and sat down on the couch.

“No, it’s the End of Days, the March of A Thousand, a thousand demons it happens a thousand years after an ascension, we need you to check these things out Willow, we made a list of things to search. I think we should go to the library too, check out more legends and things, in the morning, they’re closed now.” She grabbed her bra and went into the bathroom to put it back on. Thank god it hadn’t been Giles who walked in, that would have been worse, Willow at least understood.

            “Buffy?”

“Yeah, I’m in here.” She walked out of the bathroom and Angel came over to her.

“I’m gonna go for a walk.”

“Good, I could use a cold shower.” She said

            “Oh.”

“Did I say that out loud?”

            “Yes.”

“Oh.” She walked out into the living room. “Willow, what took so long?”

“We had a problem, a vampire problem, Spike dusted them though, two of them.”

“Oh, okay. Handy to have him around, sort of, God did I just say that?”

“I’m going patrolling Spike, wanna come kick some ass with me?” Angel asked.

“Sure, got nothing better to do, the night had been looking up, but now it’s not.”

            “What?”

“Nothing Angel, let’s go.” They left together and Buffy and Willow just stood there for a minute.

“Okay... that was normal... Buffy, are you okay?”

“Willow, no, I’m so not okay, being in a room with him is so confusing. And when he touches me, I can’t breathe, it makes me dizzy.”

            “I know the feeling...”

            “What?”

            “Don’t be mad.”

            “What Willow, tell me.”

“You have to promise to remain calm.”

            “Promise, what is it?”

“Spike and I kinda kissed a little.”

“WHAT?! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING WILLOW, HE’S LIKE A VAMPIRE! ARE YOU INSANE?”

“GEE BUFFY, I REMEMBER ANGEL BEING A VAMPIRE NEVER REALLY BOTHERED YOU THAT MUCH!”

“Okay, we don’t have to scream... Angel is different, he cares about people, Spike doesn’t Willow, I mean first off, he hasn’t had a woman in a while I’m sure, second, he’s still evil, he just can’t hurt anyone. So that means if he could, he would, Angel can and he doesn’t, there’s a big difference.”

“I know Buffy, don’t you think that didn’t cross my mind, but it’s been like five months Buffy, and why shouldn’t I, he can’t hurt right now, and it’s not like I’ll get pregnant from a one night stand with hi, and I’m so trying to talk myself into it, aren’t I? Maybe because I want to, Buffy he was so gentle, tender when we were kissing...”

“Willow, I just don’t want you falling for him, he’s no good, even a love with Angel has it bad points, and I shouldn’t go there again, I just have to keep saying that to myself, it only leads to trouble. Still I can’t help but think he’s not telling me everything.”

            “What do you mean?”

“I don’t know, he seems less stoic, he has less willpower, I mean he never would have let what happened here before you came back happen at Thanksgiving, I wonder what changed.”

“Well, let’s get cracking with the research. Hey I wonder if Anya knows anything about this march thingy, have you called her?”

“We were wondering that too, I’ll call her.”

PART 11 (PG14 - Guy Talk)

            “You smell.” Angel said matter-of-factly.

            “What?”

“You smell like girl, particularly like Willow. What’d you do?”

“Nothing she didn’t want me to.” Angel turned around and punched him in the nose. “BLOODY HELL WHAT WAS THAT FOR?”

            “Don’t go near Willow again.”

“You’re not her keeper, just because you can’t shag your little slutty slayer, doesn’t mean I can’t get some from a friend.”

“You don’t have any friends Spike.”

“Come on, why don’t you just give up and take her to bed with you, you’re going to anyway, eventually, you’re not going to be able to hold up this facade much longer, not with how hot and heavy you were.”

“LOOK, I don’t need to hear anything from you about what to do or not do with anyone, and you will NOT go near Willow again. She doesn’t need your kind of love.”

“My kind? May I remind you that you made me who I am, and if she wants that, I’ll oblige.”

“Spike, I’m not going to let you use her, and you’re not going to get her wrapped up in some torrid love affair that is meaningless to you. She’s hurting and she doesn’t need you.”

“How do you know I don’t love her?”

            “That’s not possible.”

            “I loved Dru,” he started.

“That’s because she was your sire, you’re infatuated with her, like she was with me, that’s what that is. You’re not capable of emotions.”

“That’s not true, I feel bad I hurt her, I feel awful. I loved her, but she couldn’t see me with you in the picture, I had to do what I did, and you can’t tell me you’re mad at me for it, because I saved your ass. Why is it so impossible for you to imagine me caring about anyone else? I may be a vampire, but I still am capable of human emotions.”

“So what are you saying that you love Willow?”

“I don’t know Angel, I don’t know. But I want to find out.” Angel looked at him, in his eyes, he was a pretty good at telling when he was lying or not. He saw that glint of adoration in his eyes, could it be that he might be falling for Willow?

“You hurt her, physically or emotionally or anywhere in between and you’re ashes will be on my kitchen table as a centerpiece, got it?”

            “Got it.”

            “Good.”

PART 12 (PG14 - the Legend)

            “We’re back!”

“Dead boy! GREAT!” Xander jumped up from the couch.

“Don’t call me that!” Angel said. He scanned the room for Buffy, she wasn’t anywhere. Good. “What do we know?”

“Well,” Anya said as she stood up. “I remember hearing about the march from a couple demons when I was changed. They said it had been foiled, but there would be another, and they hoped they were around when it came again. Apparently an ascension can only happen just so often. We were lucky to have seen one.”

“Yeah, real lucky.” Xander said as he sat back down.

“Anyway, they talked about the caves of the Hellmouth, there is a cave, a bunch of them, a system of them that look over the Hellmouth, you see the high school was just one part of it, it was the center of the mouth, but from the caves you can see the rest of the points on the mouth, see it looks like a mouth. Anyway, that’s where the March starts, the demons get together, and march down, part of a ritual, they march to the center of the Hellmouth from those caves chanting something, once they do that, and they have killed exactly a thousand people, each must kill one, the ritual is complete and from the caves comes the end of the world.”

“What’s the end? What is it?”

“The end comes in ice, as the day approaches it’ll get colder, and darker, almost so you could lay outside for the entire day, 23 hours of darkness per day. As it gets closer, they have rituals to do, to prepare themselves and the caves, make offerings to whatever comes out of the cave. I’m not sure. The ice is suppose to rid the planet of the plague of humans so demons can walk the earth, it gets rid of half-species, vampires, half-demons, anything that is not pure demon. After a thousand years, the ice subsides, according the theory, and the days come back slowly.”

            “Yea!” Xander commented.

“Well, that obviously didn’t happen before, so what happened?”

“I don’t know exactly, they said something about blood of eternity, but if you mess up the ritual you could stop it, everything has to be done in certain ways, in a certain time frame. I suppose if you were up in the caves you could figure it out, stop it, kill the leader or something, I don’t know.”

She had to get there to try and stop it, time was running out, she was sure. The vision had been disturbing, Angelus, hurting Buffy, it could possibly have been Angel, it was his counterpart. If she could only get there before they went horizontal, all would be well. The bus was taking forever, hold ups on the thruway, she should have taken Wesley’s bike, but she couldn’t drive that. She just hoped she made it there in time, she had tried calling but the line was busy. Willow must’ve been doing on-line research. Hurry!

            “Good, where’s Buffy?”

“She said she went for some air, to check out cemeteries and see if any demons are there preparing for rituals, they need bones for couple of the things.”

“Good, I’m going to look for her, we should go to the caves.” He bolted out the door before anyone could say otherwise.

She was standing there, looking around her. There were no vampires or demons, she was hoping there would be. She needed to kick some ass, it was the only thing that made her feel better. To be honest, she actually glad the End of Days might be coming, at least she would be out of her misery, and maybe Angel had atoned for his crimes and they could be together in heaven, or wherever you go when you die. At least her pain would be over, she wouldn’t have to have that feeling in her stomach and not know what to do. She felt it once more and looked behind her.

            “Angel.”

“Yeah, it’s me. I think we should go to the caves and do recon, they can’t be that far away if you can see Sunnydale from it, but I have a map.”

“Good plan. I want to kick some demon ass.”

“I know. The next best thing.” She itched her neck and her fingers grazed over her scar. He winced watching her touch it. It was something he would never forgive himself for.

“No Angel, this was the next best thing.”

            “What?”

What the hell was she saying? She was glad he had bitten her? Almost killed her? She must be ill, because there was nothing good that had come of that. That’s a lie. He knew that. He was glad he had done it. It was the most intimate thing they could have done. He couldn’t touch her anywhere else, but he now had her blood coursing through his veins, or at least it would if he had a heartbeat. He had part of her inside him. It was the most intimate experience of his vampire life. If it hadn’t hurt her so much, he would have smiled. He had gone too far though and she had gone to the hospital, but it had tasted so good. So warm and sweet and it had been from Buffy. No, he couldn’t think about it.

“You know what I mean Angel, the next best thing to making love to you, was this.” She walked toward him. “I’m in there... a little part of me.” She tapped his chest and she pulled back quickly, no touching, that was the rule.

“No, I could have killed you Buffy.”

“You didn’t, and I told you to.” She leaned her head over onto her should revealing the scar to him, pushing her hair to one side. “Do it again.”

“No.” He backed away. “Let’s just get to Giles’, get Spike and Anya and get to the caves.”

“Angel,” she pulled him back to her. “You know you want to, so do it.”

“What Buffy? Did you like it? Is this how it’s going to be? Whenever you want a close experience with me, you’re just going to give me your neck? That’s not a possibility.”

“So you’d never, even if I asked you to?”

“No. I can’t believe you actually asked me to do that.”

“I’m sorry.” She backed away. “We have to go alone.”

            “What?”

“To the caves, Anya doesn’t know where it is and if something happens to us, Spike might have to stop it with her help. We have to go, and besides it’s just recon anyway. Let’s get your car.”
