Cockatiels are very fun loving, affectonate, docile, creatures and they adapt well to new
environments. Since they are so gentle it makes for the best starter bird even for a child. They
will amuse you with their cute antics and tricks. Cockatiels WILL put off bird dust, it comes from
their down feathers. So if you have allergies put this into concideration. Do not bring a bird home
just "to try" it out to see what happens as this is very unfair to the bird.

Cats are other types of starter pets. They are very lovable, affectionate and love to cuddle
up in a chair with you and watch T.V.. They are also very independent and can be left without much
care needed.

Rabbits are great starter pets. They can be trained to use a litter box, theyll come when
called, and some will engage their owners in a daily game of tag. Domestic rabbits are delightful
companion animals. They are inquisitive, intelligent, sociable and affectionateand if well-cared
for, indoor rabbits can live for seven to ten or more years.

Guinea pigs are larger than hamsters, but smaller than rabbits, guinea pigs can weigh a couple
of pounds and generally live for five to seven years. The three most common breeds of guinea pig
are the Smooth-Coated, with short, glossy fur; the Abyssinian, whose hair grows in fluffy tufts all
over the body, and the Peruvian, with long, silky hair that flows to the ground.
