SUGAR CRYSTALS

So you want to learn how to grow sugar crystals? Well if you have been to my alum page I will tell you it is very much the same. However, the ingredients are differant. In here you dissolve sugar into the water. There are 2 methods to grow sugar crystals, evaporation method and the slow cooling method. On my website though I wil teach you the slow cooling method and teach you a little about the evaporation method since it is closely realted to the alum crystal growing procedures. You should try both methods and see which crystal comes out bigger and better. Also the size depends on how much of the solition you make.

Slow Cooling Method

Materials Needed:
  • sugar (you are going to need lots of it because it's the main ingrediant)
  • jar or cup
  • something to boil water in

    Growing the Crystal:

    • Step 1:Add 230 to 300 grams of sugar to 100 grams of water. (The more sugar there is the bigger and better it gets)
    • Step 2:Heat the solution you made until it has boiled and gets cleared.
    • Step 3:Pour the solution into the jar or cup and make sure it's closed as tight as possible. Try to keep the jar well insulated and try to keep it from any movements. (The slower it cools down the better)

The crystal will be finished depending on the amount of sugar you may have put in it. One problem it might have is that the solution does not cool down fast enough and you may end up with small crystals to no crystals!

      Evaporation Method

      Materials Needed:

      • sugar (you are going to need lots of it because it's the main ingrediant)
      • jar or cup
      • something to boil water in

        Growing the Crystal:

        • Step 1:Add 230 grams of sugar to 100 grams of water. (The more sugar there is the bigger and better it gets)
        • Step 2:Heat the solution you made until it has boiled and gets cleared.
        • Step 3:Transfer the solution into the jar and leave it alone for around 1 week.
        • Step 4:After 1 week you should find some large seed crystals(use those crystals as you did in growing in the alum crystal and leave it until the whole solution has evaporated.)
TIP= YOU SHOULD PRODUCE 500 TO 1000mL OF SOLUTION
