| Capcom I Love You, But... (part 2) |
| I wanna talk about my favorite game company, Capcom. Again. (click here to read my first rant about Capcom) Now, it's quite obvious to anyone who knows me that I love Capcom, but god dammit, is it really so bloody hard to make a few new games? I'm sitting here, looking at an 'upcoming releases' chart, and it occurs to me thats about 50% of the Capcom games on it are bare-bones ports of older (but still easy to find) games to a new console or two. IE- Marvel Vs Capcom 2 for X-box and PS2, or Snk Vs Capcom 2 for GameCube, I mean jeeze, if people wanna play these games, you can still find the originals in just about any DECENT gaming store in the country, and I KNOW that goes for Japan too, so why is Capcom wasting resources.... And of the games Capcom is touting as new? All but 4 are sequels. The worst part? Not a one of them is Rival Schools 3. I mean damn, it's like they're working specifically to piss off their hardcore fans (y'know those of us that import their games AND buy the domestic releases.... not to mention buying Heavy Metal and Spawn). Now, in my ideal world, it is true that I'd like Capcom sequels and ports, so I guess I can't be mad at them for that, I just wish they'd make sequels to games that deserve them (One Piece Mansion comes to mind, as does GunBird2) and port (as well as update) games that are hard for us to get our hands on (Street Fighter and Captian Commando come to mind) rather than use all their resources on things that might make money, but don't give anything new to the fans that have made them the successful buisiness they are today... The irony, of course, being that I KNOW I'll buy all of these ports AND sequels.... even with games that I hated the originals of. Ahh Capcom, I know you only hit me because you love me.
