This web site holds personal poetry that has been
collected since 1985. Many poems were
written and given to the person to whom it was directed or written for. For some of these, copies were not kept by
the poet. Other poems were written and
the originals were lost before being recorded for the collection.
By the late 1980’s there were over 150 poems captured
in A4 size hard covered books. In 1988,
using a manual typewriter, the recording of my poetry began.
However, before even half of the poems were typed out,
one of the hard cover books containing poetry of 1986 and 1987 disappeared and
some of the poems were recovered from the few originals that remained.
All of the poetry was written impromptu except where
the Sonnet form and variations were used and for most of the Haiku’s.
The structure of a few of the poems was modified when
it was found that a specific meter was used in the first stanza. The subsequent stanzas were modified to
follow the distinct meter. Craig
believes that as with morals and high social values declining over time, so has
the definition of poetry been reduced to sentences that have no rhythm and
often no rhyme. If you are a purist
then this is the page for you.
Two poems from 2005: A poem written to coincide with
the State of Nation Address by the South African State President, Mr. by Thabo
Mbeki.

one written for a project on disabilities.
Some of the poems have appeared in printed
anthologies. This web site has more
than one hundred poems for your pleasure.
