It was also a fund raising event. It was raining very hard when we left. We went to dinner with mommy's sisters as belated celebration of their birthdays. They came to our house afterwards. We showed them the video footage we took earlier today at the school function..

It was Valentine's day. The twins had PE class at school. Jasmine said she got a bruise from doing too many sit-ups. They had Valentine party at school. They made Valentine cards for mommy and daddy. At lunch time, daddy went to Costco with a coworker and saw the Nintendo Wii. The worker said they just brought them out to the floor today. He advised us to grab a box if we wanted one because everyone was making phone calls to their friends and they would be gone before the end of the day.
The twins learned from mommy that daddy would bring home a surprise Valentine gift. They was glad to see it was a Wii because they know it was a hard to find item. Jasmine helped daddy set it up. It was so well designed that she didn't need to read the manual. Within minutes, it was ready to play and connected to the Internet.

It is the eve of Chinese New Year. At around noon, we picked up a special order of takeout dinner for the new year eve. We dropped off the food with grandma Ling before we went out to lunch. Benjamin's family went to Oakland Chinatown for the first time. They asked mommy to show them around for some Chinese new year shopping. The twins brought along the Wii so that Ben and cousin Natalie could play the game. Ben's family left in the afternoon. We stayed for dinner at grandma's. It is Chinese tradition to have a family reunion dinner on New Year Eve. Everyone in mommy's family was present. We returned home after dinner.

Welcome to the year of the Boar. We got up at 7:30am in the morning. We headed to a buddhist temple in San Francisco. Ben's family and Christopher's family rendezvoused with us at the temple. We attended a Buddhist blessing ceremony at the temple. It was the first time we did that. We thought it just took a few minutes at the alter. It turned out that the congregation chanted the Buddhist sutra along with the priests. The sutra was over 30 pages long and the chant lasted almost 3 hours. The first session started at 9:30am and was over a little after past noon. We sneaked out during the 20 minutes intermission and we never returned to the second session. We didn't care to find out how long the second chant would last because the kids were getting impatient towards the end of the first session. The kids did pretty good given the 3 hours long monotonous chant. One year old Serenity was making a lot of noise and her parents had to take outside occasionally to reduce the disruption. We went to lunch together afterward. We decided to get together for dinner again in the evening. Each family ran their own errands after lunch. We paid a New Year visit to grandma Chui in the afternoon. Then we returned home to take a nap due to the early trip in the morning. In the evening, grandma Chui, aunt Elaine and Christopher's family came to our home for dinner. Ben was grounded by his father because he was restless during the chanting this morning, hence their family decided not to come. We all felt that Ben's father was too strict to expect a 9 year old to sit still for 3 hours.
After dinner, Christopher's dad, grandma Chui and aunt Elaine and mommy played mahjong. The kids played on the computer and the Wii. The party was over past midnight.

We slept in till 11am. We went to lunch with Evon, Ronald and SiuLing in Millbrae. The restaurant was so busy that we waited for 90 minutes before we got a table. The twins were okay with the wait because they just played their Nintendo DS Lite. After lunch, we went to the parking lot to see Ronald's tea cup size Yorkshire terrier. The twins walked the dog for a while.Mommy decided to buy a cup of tea from the cafe across the street. When we got there, we bumped into Valerie's family. They had lunch there before going to the airport to pickup Val's aunt from Hong Kong. Valerie and Justin were excited to see the tiny dog. Val's daddy was quite knowledgeable about the Yorkshire terrier because he loves dogs. He was glad that his kids also like dogs so much because he thought he now could convince his wife to buy a dog. The twins showed Valerie and Justin the Yorkshire terrier in their Nintendogs game and the kids paid no more attention to the real dog. Val and Justine told their dad that they would prefer the virtual dog to the real dog. Their dad didn't mind their change of mind because the real tea cup size Yorkshire terrier costs $2000 while the Nintendogs only cost a fraction of that. We parted our ways after 4pm when it was time for them to go to the airport.
We went to Jocelyn's home to check their windows and doors. Their family went to Taiwan on vacation. Their alarm company notified them that the alarm system went off in the morning and again in the afternoon. We went to check and found nothing abnormal. It was probably a false alarm.
In the evening, we went to Ashley's home for dinner. The adults started a game of mahjong. Jasmine W. and her mom joined us later. Since we were in the game, Jasmine W's mom cook some dumplings for us. Jasmine W. and her mom left before 10pm because they had school the next day. We continued to finish the game and returned home after midnight.

The twins are in their spring break. They don't have school for the rest of the week. They stayed in bed all morning. In the afternoon, Christopher's and Ben's family came to have a play day. The kids played on the Wii. Christopher also brought some of his Nintendo Game Cube games. Those games are playable on the Wii too because it was designed as a successor for the NGC console and Nintendo stopped production of the NGC as soon as the Wii was shipped.Daddy worked overtime at work and returned home after 9:30pm. The twins went to bed at around 10:30pm.
Wednesday, Feb 21, 2007 (9y+6m+15d)

We stayed in the aquarium until it closed the doors. On our way home, we called a Japanese BBQ place for reservation, but they didn't have a table until 9pm. We dined at Azuma Japanese before we returned home.
Sunday, Feb 25, 2007 (9y+6m+19d)
We called Grandma Chui for lunch. She said she could not come out because she caught a flu with some coughing. The piano teacher called in the morning to cancel the twin's class today because she had a performance to give on her own.
Chris and Joie came over. The kids played on the Wii all day. The twins took turns in piano practice while our guests play. For dinner, we went to Ryowa for ramen.
Monday, Feb 26, 2007 (9y+6m+20d)
The twins returned to school after a week long spring break. Joanne said she liked to go to school. It was her favorite place. In the evening, the twins were fighting to take over the bathroom. Jasmine was inside holding the door knob. Joanne tried to force her way in and the door bruised her toe.
Aunt Elaine called to inform that grandma Chui came down with a fever since last night. Her fever reached 102° F at one point. She had hallucination of see uncle Ronnie and aunt Michelle in the house. She also saw us in the house too. We wondered if her fever was causing her hallucination. Daddy paid her a visit after dinner and stayed with her until 10pm. She was feeling fine except her fever was still at 99°F.
Tuesday, Feb 27, 2007 (9y+6m+21d)
The twins went to school as usual. In school, the kids passed a candle around in class in memory of Sydney Ng who was a third grader who was killed in a car accident involving a drunk driver last Monday. Her sister Kendall, a fifth grader and their mother were injured too. The twins said they didn't know Sydney personally, but knew who she was. They knew Kendall and met her in the school playground before.Daddy took some time off in the afternoon to go with grandma Chui to see the doctor. Daddy asked the doctor if her hallucination was related to hepatic encephalopathy. The doctor said he couldn't tell until he tested her blood for ammonia. He said her last blood test last week was okay. So it was unlikely that her liver deteriorated so quickly within a week. He said it was not uncommon for fever to cause hallucination and confusion in older people.
Daddy came home early after grandma's doctor visit. After dinner, laughters came from the twins' room. Daddy went upstairs to check on them. They were making their beds after mommy washed all their sheets and bedding. The arrangement was perfect when mommy didn't need to do the chore and the twins enjoyed the chores like games.
Wednesday, Feb 28, 2007 (9y+6m+22d)
The twins went to school as usual. They did their homework and practiced piano as usual.Daddy visited grandma Chui after dinner. She was doing better today after she took some antibiotic prescribed by the doctor. Her coughing had almost stopped. She could talk very clearly. She felt very sleepy. Daddy left to let her rest more.

Friday, Mar 2, 2007 (9y+6m+24d)
The twins went to school as usual. In the evening, we had dinner with Christopher's and Claire's family. Chris's family had to get up early the next morning so they returned home. Claire and her dad came to our house to play on the Wii. They played until midnight before they left.
While the guests were playing, Jasmine was more interested in showing the Guild web page she worked on in Neopet.com than to play the video game. She and Ashley had been building this web page for quite a while. They learned HTML by copying other people's code. They kept making changes constantly because they were still experimenting with different effects.
Saturday, Mar 3, 2007 (9y+6m+25d)
We stayed in bed until 11am. We bought some take out food from a Japanese supermarket and went to visit Annette and her family. Annette's mom was still recovering from her surgery. So we brought lunch enough for everyone. After lunch, the kids played together, the moms chatted and daddy watched TV. We stayed till 5pm.We left our host and went to Santana Row. We walked around for a while before we went to Pasta Pomodoro for dinner. Claire's family joined us later in the restaurant. We walked around Santana Row after dinner and went to the cafe to have some desserts. On the street of Santa Row, we saw a Lamborghini parked on the road side as an advertisement for the Italian car dealership. When we walked by Hotel Valencia Santana Row, we saw a Ford in front of the hotel at the valet that looked very much like the 1964 Shelby Ford GT40 complete with the white stripe and the blue paint job. I wondered if that was a replica or the real McCoy. I heard that the real one was recently auctioned at over $2 million dollars.
We were home at around 9:30pm. The twins took turns to practice piano after they took a shower. Jasmine complained that she was shivering while playing piano. The piano was near the window and the furnace was already off late at night. She practiced piano at the cold corner in only a T-shirt. Daddy sent her right in bed to keep her warm.
Sunday, Mar 4, 2007 (9y+6m+26d)
Jasmine woke up with a fever. The hypothermia last night must have weakened her immune system and the virus and germs won the battle overnight. Mommy was very upset with Jasmine's fever because Jasmine should be old enough to grab a jacket when she felt cold. Mommy cooked some brunch, left it on the table and left the house without saying a word.Daddy stayed home with the twins all day. They practiced piano. They spent the rest of the day watching TV. Joanne also played on Neopet.com. Jasmine just sat behind her to watch. Usually Jasmine would do all the playing. But today Jasmine was quiet and laid back.
When mommy came back in the late afternoon, she confiscated the Nintendo DS. The DS was grounded because the twins were too indulged and not taking care of themselves. Joanne told daddy that it was okay with her even though all the Nintendogs they were raising would be all gone by the time they got back the game. Jasmine didn't comment. She had been very quiet because of her fever. Jasmine took some Tylenol before going to bed.
