On Twins:
- Twins by David Fields (Photographer), Ruth Sandweiss, Rachel Sandweiss
Celebrate this unique, profound, and complex relationship with twins of all ages and backgrounds. Read tales of extraordinary twin siblings, including Muhammad Ali's twin daughters, Aldo and Mario Andretti, Jane Seymour's children, Tia and Tamera Mowry, the first NASA twin astronauts, 94-year-old twin sisters, and Hungarian twin brothers who survived the Holocaust.Twins have fascinated people throughout history and remain a mystery on a biological, psychological, and some feel, spiritual level. We offer this book with the hope that the stories touch your heart as they have ours, eradicate common misconceptions, illumate joys and challenges (for example, the deep bond, devotion, and teamwork between twins, as well as issues of identity, relationships, competition, and parenting) and give you a deeper understanding of one of the most precious and rewarding human bonds. Most important, we hope this book sheds light on human relationships in a way that brings us all closer together.

On American Culture:
- Cultural Literacy: What Every American Needs to Know by E.D. Hirsch Jr.
I read this book over 10 years ago. It is about one theory on effective education and how American children are ignorance about their own history and heritage. I totally agree with the author that one can be illiterate even if one knows the language but lack the knowledge of the cultural background behind the words.Along the same line of thought, I found that people grew up in a foreign country usually have hurdles learning the American language. For example, terms like "grid iron", "3-strike law" on a newspaper can be hard to understand by someone who don't know about American sports. The worst problem is that most dictionaries would not contain such phrases, and hence the readers would have a hard time finding the true meaning.
The book contains a list of topics/words that American should know, though there is no further explanation. The dictionaries below may come in handy to become cultural literate.
