Introduction

As for the Bottle Counter project, the aim is to design an electronic system that counts so that when a conveyor belt with a bottle is passed through, the display will show the total number of the bottles. The idea of this project is to use both the transducer and receiver as sensors so that when a bottle passes through the system knows it and will record a count on it on the display. It will continue counting until there is no more bottle that passes through. The system is quite smart as in when there is a bottle missing on the slot, it will detect it and not count.

As this project might seem trivial to some of you (the readers out there), i would just have to agree with you. But for a starter like me when i was doing it of course there were some misconceptions here and there. The problem arises when we were doing the display where the theory does not apply exactly to the practical system. Anyhow, with the help of the lecturers and postgraduates we were able to come out with a working system at the end of the 5 weeks period given to us to complete the project. It was tested out and worked as desired.

From the management side of this project, 3 students were involved. Initially we divide the task into smaller sub-task. From the most basic task we worked our way up to produce the whole picture of the system. The coolest thing about working in smaller task is that we know exactly what is happening there and we can check whether its working before we proceed to the next task. This would really help in trouble-shooting the system if it doesn't work in the end. Also, we make sure everyone in the groups knows exactly what is happening from the very beginning since it would be hard to proceed to the next stage if otherwise.

All i have to comment about this project is that we have the good times and the bad times. The bad times of course is when our display doesn't count properly. Anyway in the end we make it ! Bravo to the group !
