Supervisor and Pastor
-By Ann Marie German

Supervisor of Maintenance and Operations and Pastor Richard Treece is doing a fantastic job in leadership. He has been managing his crew here at Copper Mountain College (CMC) for four and half years and has been an ordained pastor for thirteen months.

Treece performs multiple tasks on campus. He covers the areas in facility management, future planning for the facilities, maintenance of the facilities, ground keeping, custodian, security, and all the warehouse responsibilities for shipping and receiving. As well as, pastoring the Twenty-nine Palms apostolic ministry, he is quite amazing.

When asked how he handles both leadership positions, he responded, My job is to lead people and lead them by example being knowledgeable of each one of those areas in order to teach people and guide them to get them do and accomplish the task that they asked to accomplish. Being a pastor is very similar to that because you have to be knowledgeable in the word, and have the gift of God to be able to reach souls to come to Christ and get them out of the darkness into the light, which is the best accomplishment.

Most students on campus are not aware of Treeces pastoral position. He is managing quite well in both positions as a leader and mentor. It is very interesting how both jobs tie together. Treece said that he gives God the praise and credit for both accomplishments. His early life and career was in the Marine Corps, which is where he developed most of his leadership skills. He looks back today and sees that the leadership abilities that he would use all his life were Gods blessing.

Pastor Treece said that he did not know he was going to be a pastor, but those skills that he learned from the Marine Corps came in handy for the job at CMC as well as pasturing Gods ministry. He further mentions that he has a great deal of compassion for people, which will better the school and the ministry; however, he is looking forward to retirement from CMC in seven years.
