CMC Christian Club
-by Anne Marie German

The Christian Club at Copper Mountain College (CMC) campus is on fire for the Lord. Co-advisers, George Platko and Ken Moats are two of the faculty here at CMC who are involved with the Christian Club.

For those CMC students and staff members who are not aware of this Christian Club, it has been around since January 1991. According to Co-adviser George Platko, there has been Fourteen years of inspiring fellowship. George Platko is a security guard on campus, and Ken Moats is one of the instructors for the Adult Education Program.

This club used to meet on Thursdays at twelve noon for an hour and a half. Unfortunately, this semester scheduling of classes was not as flexible. Nevertheless, if anyone is interested, those interested can attend the current club meetings on Fridays from 11:00am to noon at CMC in room 126. Casey Bice, who is a full-time student, is the club student leader; Bice will be available to greet any newcomers. The rest of the Christian Club members are all nice and hospitable.

Friday, Co-adviser, George Platko called this meeting to order, and Casey Bice opened up with prayer. George Platko discussed the agenda for the upcoming meeting. Topics discussed included the field trip to Taquitz Falls, located in Palm Springs. This will take place during spring break, 2005. Most importantly, the Bible study discussion took great focus and showed that it was well prepared by George Platko who suggested that everyone should read a chapter a day from the book of Hebrew in the New Testament. There will be guest speakers from some of the churches within the desert community. In addition, each week a member of the club will give him or her testimony.

In the past, this club has taken field trips to see plays and movies. They have participated by getting together with other organizations and have helped by donating various items to CMC, such as the couch in the cafeteria. On CMC Day, the Christian Clubs booth gave away many goodies.

The Christian Club is looking for more students to fellowship with. It would be nice to see more new faces, said George Platko.
