Bruce’s Coyote Cafe
-By Dwight “Pops” Garner

Excluding the snack machines, there is only one choice on the college campus where students and faculty can go to get a meal. This place is Bruce’s Coyote Café, which is located in Phase III, next to the Office of Student Services.
One café on the campus is sufficient as long as it can provide the needed foods for the people on the campus. Quality and variety is always a concern when the patrons are as diverse as they are on a college campus. How good is Bruce’s café? According to Kelly Desantis, a student, “I like the BLT and salads. These are my favorites and I mostly buy them.” This seems to be the standard for most who eat at the café; they all have a favorite dish and do not often vary from it. When asked on a scale of one to ten, how she would rate the café, with ten being the worse, Desantis responded, “I would give it a two.”
Another student, Holly O’Brien, was asked similar questions. She also had her favorite meal that she would rarely stray from. She stated, “I always get the grilled chicken sandwich and potato salad.” O’Brien gave the café a rating of four. When asked if she had any concerns about the establishment, she replied, “Well, I would prefer if they wore gloves.”
O’Brian’s concern with the sanitary conditions of the café, were reflected in the concerns of other students, whom were polled around the campus. This may appear to be a minor thing to some, but to handle money or to leave the food preparation area and then resume handling the food without washing one’s hands or, as O’Brien commented, donning gloves, is just a tad unsanitary.
With the choice of eating places being limited to just one, the students and faculty deserve the best that can be provided. Bruce’s café does provide the variety and quantity that is needed on a campus, but some improvement is necessary in the department of quality and sanitation.
