get a bit
dusty--ok a lot dusty (for now)-we can get this place in tip top
shape in time for summer. My goal is mid-March for getting the
center in tip top shape for Summer.
Ready Reserve
We have had several
travel counselors go on our injured reserve list so here is a
rundown and if you know of any updates, please give me a call to
keep me current:
Art Wilcox was diagnosed with Anemia and Bettie Wilcox
is a little under the weather as well. Dwight Ghent, Ash Ashley, and
Mary Farrell have all gone in for knee surgery or are about to.
Ernie Crewdson, Roger Johnson, and Bill McCambridge's wife,
Virginia, are all on the mend.
Study Trip
Updates
We have heard from
the following towns and areas in the Southwest for our study trip:
Norwood, Delta, Durango, Lake City, and Telluride. We voted to
consider a second study trip in the fall if we get a good response
from the remainder of the areas contacted and we will be passing
around a sign up sheet for the study trip starting at the next staff
meeting. If you sign-up you must pay the study trip fee at the time
of sign-up and the fee is non-refundable unless you find a
replacement for your spot on the trip. Space on the trip will be
limited as follows: 24--30 travel counselors will have first
priority--to signup you must have earned 100 hours to sign up in the
first two weeks. After that it is open to anyone and then we will
have alternates for anyone who doesn't make the initial 24--30
spots. If you have any questions, please wait to ask them at the
next staff meeting when I hope to know some more finalized details.
Thanks.

OPENING, CLOSING AND SHIFT CHANGES! VERY IMPORTANT!
READ THOROUGHLY!
In an effort to improve customer service at the welcome
center, I have made some updates to several items at the
center and I have made some changes. First, I have updated the
bookstore manual to include the changes that you have written
in over the past year and to include updated information on
voids and credit cards. Second, I have updated the Shift
duties list by combining them with the what to do if you are
bored list and they are now taped to the front counter. The
items listed in bold are the shift duties that should be done
each day by every shift. Read through each item and do the
ones that pertain to your shift. After that, check and see
what other items on the list can or should be done to make our
center the most attractive and user-friendly center for our
visitors. Third, the opening and closing procedures have been
updated to include all of the managerless opening procedures
as well as those procedures that you would do whether a
manager is present or not. Please review each of these items
on your next shift. In an additional effort to improve
customer service, I am asking that each of you make every
effort to arrive with enough time to put away your personal
items and be ready to start your shifts at 8, 11, and 2
respectively and stay for the full shifts of 11, 2, and 5. I
know that sometimes you can only get a Doctor's appointment on
a certain day or you are not feeling well and these instances
are understandable. I believe for us to provide the best
customer service we must have the welcome center ready to open
before 8 a.m. and wait to close the center until 5 p.m. (6 in
the summers). To this end, I have bought an atomic clock at
your request. I will be here on the days I am able to have the
center ready to open prior to 8 and stay to close after five.
I ask that on the days that I am sick, on vacation, at a
meeting/conference, etc. that you make the same commitment to
customer service and arrive early enough to prepare the center
for opening before 8 a.m. and stay after to close after 5 p.m.
For Weekend Travel Counselors, I will be starting a weekend
reward program for all travel counselors who volunteer for at
least 24 weekend shifts. If you volunteer for 24 weekend
shifts in one calendar year, you will qualify for a special
day trip to be determined either by me or by committee at the
last staff meeting of the year. This is my way of thanking you
for your dedication and commitment to excellence within the
Welcome Center and for volunteering your time on the weekends.
To all of you, who are dedicated to the Colorado
Welcome Center at Fort Collins, I appreciate your support and
I look forward to working with you in the months ahead as the
visitation begins to take off and the summer visitors keep us
busier than ever!
