Editorial Reviews

Review from Scamazon.com

Fans who have waited years for Sir Mix-A-Lot's compilation of B-sides and rarities will not be disappointed by this 3-disc set. Mix has always been known as a mature, sophisticated artist, and this collection proves it beyond the wildest hopes of his fans. From his early, unformed tributes to the African-American female posterior ("Round 'n' Brown" and "Fine From Behind") to his epic later works and master opus, "Baby Got Back", his growth is shown in this fascinating shadow history. A cover of Bob Dylan's "Blowin' In The Wind" shows a quiet, introspective side that is all too often forgotten ("Yesn' how many times must I hit it from behind / Before she shakes it again?"). While some have already criticized the fact that over 75% of the material is versions of "Baby Got Back," these are where the true enjoyment lies. In an early studio take, he experiments with the lyrics in the famed "My anaconda don't want none" line, substituting "boa constrictor," "cobra," and "garter snake." In the end, his passion is such that another brotha truly cannot deny, that baby indeed does got back. -- Sherman Miller

what happened?, by Dan S. - April 3, 2005
Don't get me wrong, this CD is a must for any fan. But it's marred by the bad production. I mean, usually with Mix A Lot's work I can FEEL her shaking that round thing in my face. But with this, I just didn't get sprung. I would give it a 5 out of 10.
