News

August 19th-Last weekend, Jeremy finished 3rd in the heat race and 5th in the A-Main. He is still the points leader, holding a 20 point lead over 2nd place driver Dan Estremado.

July 27th-After a weekend off, the drivers of Team Richey were anxious to get back on the track! Friday night at the Rogue Speedway, Justin finished third in the Novice B-Main, Billy finished 8th in the Novice B-Main, Robert won the Intermediate A-Main, and Diedre was having a great night out before mechanical problems in the 125cc class. Saturday night at the Southern Oregon Speedway, Jeremy won his heat race, started 2nd in the A-Main, and finished 2nd. Jeremy is now 18 points ahead of 2nd place driver Dan Estramado in the modified points standings. Congratulations to Jeremy on holding the points lead, and to Robert for his first ever main event victory!

July 15th-Wow, it was an extremely busy weekend for Team Richey, as there were three races in four days! Friday at the Rogue Speedway (formerly the Southern Oregon Outlaw kart track), Justin won the Novice B-Main, and then raced his way to a solid top ten finish in the main event. Billy also transfered from the Novice B-Main with a second place finish, and ended the night with a strong showing in the main event. Robert also had an awesome weekend as he qualified straight for the Intermediate A-Main, where ran an oustanding race, finishing in third place. Diedre also had a great night out as she too ran a solid race to finish in the top ten in the 125cc main event. Saturday night at the Southern Oregon Speedway, Jeremy was caught up in a wreck during the heat race, but his crew worked extremely hard to get him ready for the main, where he started 14th, but quickly moved through the field, and finished in 4th place. Monday night at the NST race, Jeremy finished 2nd in his heat race, started 9th in the main event, and ended the weekend with a fifth place finish. Jeremy is still the modified points leader at the Southern Oregon Speedway, but is hanging on by a narrow margin. The last six races will provide one of the tightest points battles in Southern Oregon Speedway history!

July 10th-At the Southern Oregon Outlaw kart track, Billy is 18th in points in the Novice class, Justin is 6th in the Novice class, Robert is 8th in the Intermediate class, and Diedre is 11th in the 125cc class. Jeremy is still the modified points leader at the Southern Oregon Speedway, and is leading Oregon U.M.P. points. Keep up the good work!

July 5th- Following up an excellent first place finish in heat race with a second place finish in the trophy dash, Jeremy appeared to be set for a great night at the Southern Oregon Speedway on July 4th. However, two accidents prevented Jeremy from working his way up. With the other top 3 drivers finishing badly also, Jeremy is still in the points lead, but will have to work harder to maintain the points lead. He will be racing at the Southern Oregon Speedway on Saturday, July 12th, and then at the NST race at the Southern Oregon Speedway on Monday, July 14th.

June 29th- After finishing in fifth place in his heat race, Jeremy started in 7th place in the main event at the Southern Oregon Speedway on Saturday night. Initially dropping back a few places, Jeremy then found the groove and raced his way to a very solid fifth place finish. Jeremy is now the points leader for the modified class at the Southern Oregon Speedway, and is now the Oregon points leader for U.M.P. At the kart races on Friday, Diedre once again raced her way to a top 10 finish in the 125cc class. Robert continued to experience mechanical problems, as his rear axle locked up after moving up to fourth place in the A-Main in the Intermediate class. In the Novice class, Billy also experienced mechanical problems, cutting down a tire, but still racing to a top 5 finish in the B-Main. Justin had the best race of his career, qualifying straight for the A-Main, then racing to the front to claim fourth place in the main even! Congratulations to all Team Richey drivers, the cage kart racers have a week off, whereas Jeremy will be at the Southern Oregon Speedway on Friday, July 4th for the modified race.

June 22nd- At the Northwest Modified Nationals at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Washington, Jeremy started off the weekend on Friday night with a 2nd place finish in his first heat race and a 4th place finish in his second heat race. After transfering from the B-Main, Jeremy moved up through the pack for a 10th place finish in the A-Main on Friday night. Saturday appeared to be a great night for Team Richey as Jeremy won his heat race, but was taken out on the very first lap of the A-Main. It is very unfortunate as Jeremy was very fast, and the car is quite tore up. Not one to get down, Jeremy will be back next weekend at the Southern Oregon Speedway on Saturday the 28th.

June 18th- Starting off the night with a solid third place finish in his heat race, Jeremy battled from a 12th starting position to finish 4th in the A-Main. Jeremy is still 2nd points, but is now only 11 points behind new points leader Jon DeBenedetti. As for the kart races last Friday night, Diedre followed up a solid qualifying effort with a top 10 finish in the 125cc main. After qualifying 11th, Robert won the Intermediate B-Main, then was moving up quickly through the pack in the A-Main before experiencing engine problems. Following a solid qualifying session, Billy raced his way to a victory in the Novice B-Main, then followed it up with a top 10 finish. After qualifying straight for the Novice A-Main, Justin raced his way to a solid top 10 finish. Congratulations to all of the Team Richey drivers! Look for Jeremy at the Northwest Modified Nationals this weekend at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Washington.

June 7th-With a very strong 1st place finish in a clean and competitive heat race, Jeremy was looking to have a great night at the Southern Oregon Speedway. Starting in the very last row of A-Main qualifiers yet again, Jeremy quickly moved up to 7th place before breaking a right front shock. Not one to give up, Jeremy battled his way to a 9th place finish. Jeremy will be racing next weekend at the Southern Oregon Speedway, and the weekend after that, Team Richey will be hauling up to Elma, Washington for the Northwest Modified Nationals at Grays Harbor Raceway. Diedre, Robert, Billy, and Justin will be racing at the Southern Oregon kart track next Friday. On Saturday, Robert and Justin will be towing down to California for the Yreka Invitational. June 1st-After qualifying second fast, Jeremy continued his impressive streak at Cottage Grove Speedway with a solid 3rd place finish in his heat race. The night ended with a 3rd place finish in the main event, which makes for 1st, 3rd, and 6th place finishes so far this year at Cottage Grove Speedway. Jeremy is still the points leader at Cottage Grove Speedway, and is second in points at the Southern Oregon Speedway, where he will be racing this weekend. Now for the cage kart news, Robert qualified in 9th place in the intermediate class, and followed it up with an outstanding 4th place finish in the main event! Justin finished 2nd in the B-Main, transfered to the A-Main, and ended the race with a top 10 finish in the novice class! Congratulations to all of the Richey Racing drivers this weekend!

May 27th-Another night at Cottage Grove Speedway ended with a solid finsih for the Team Richey modified of Jeremy Richey. After a strong 3rd place finish in his heat race, Jeremy battled his way to a 6th place finish in the main event. Congratulations to Jeremy, who is now 2nd in points at Southern Oregon Speedway, and is the points leader at Cottage Grove Speedway!!!

May 19th-After a strong 2nd place finish in a heat race that featured Brian Poppa, Bruce Rayburn Jr., and Dan Estramado, pills were drawn, and Jeremy ended up in the very last row of A-Main qualifiers. Not bothered by his bad luck, Jeremy quickly advanced through the field, working his way up to 8th place before he was forced to make a pit stop because of a low left front tire. With many cars on the lead lap, Jeremy ended up finishing 15th in the race. Even with the poor finish, Jeremy is second in points overall, just one point behind leader Jon DeBenedetti!

May 11th-After recording the fast time for modifieds at Cottage Grove Speedway tonight, Jeremy won his heat race and finished second in the trophy dash, capping the impressive outing with a first place finish the main event. Jeremy now has two wins this year, and is hungry for many more. Congratulations to Jeremy, and his amazing pit crew on their impressive showing this weekend. The top five finishers in the main event were Jeremy Richey, Gene Powell, Robert Hand, Jesse Williamson, and Eric Bray.

April 27th-Another boring night at Siskyou Motor Speedway.

April 19th-The opening night of the 2003 season at the Southern Oregon Speedway went extremely well for the Richey Racing modified! After a strong 2nd place finish in his heat race, Jeremy started on the pole for the main event. Running strong in second place, Jeremy was in position to captalize on the misfortunes of Jon DeBenedetti, taking over the lead when Jon had mechanical problems. Never looking back, Jeremy captured his second modified main event victory, and his first in his home built J.Rich Chassis! Congratulations and thanks to all who helped make this season possible! March 21 & 22- In the opening night of the Silver Cup at Silver Dollar
Speedway, Jeremy raced to the front to claim the third place spot in his heat race
after starting dead last. Racing competitively with modified aces such as Dustin
Jenks and Randy McDaniel, it looked to be a good weekend for the Richey
Racing team. However, mother nature had other plans as the main event
scheduled for Saturday night was rained out.
