| Contrary to popular belief, Sage is NOT a flirt!!!!!!! In fact, he dislikes talking to girls (his sister has a lot to do with that, lol). And no, he's not scared of them. Other than not liking to talk to girls, Sage doesn't like Evil (then again, who does?). Also, Sage and Rowen seem like best friends; however, that's just because when he's seen in the series, he usually is hanging out with Rowen. They didn't meet until the beginning of the series, so if they are best friends, it didn't start before then. |
| Sage's Life Sage is calm and cool, but at the same time he can be a jerk yet totally sweet. His personality is a complete mystery since you don't really know what he'll do next. Sage's distant and cool attitude is only half of his many-sided personality. Courteous, stubborn, and patient, he is very hard to handle. Even though he can be patient, Sage has been known to blow a fuse sometimes (we know why patience isn't his virtue, lol). He has a lack of tolerance for Yuli (Jun) and a couple of the other RW group. Sage's quick action to fight makes us think he's actually quite a hot-head. Though planning and careful strategic dicussion with Sage is a must, we all know that if he's provoked, he explodes just like the other RWs. Sage's emotions (or lack of) leave us to believe he's cold and hateful to others. In reality, he's very straight-forward, and gives us the hard truth. He's not really as cold as he seems. Sometimes, he has 'special' moments when he reveals how he really feels. This is mostly around Mia (Nasutei), or when something desperate happens. Sage is outgoing. He likes F1 racing, Kendo (and basically anything that has to do with swords), and is rather skilled with the Bamboo Flute and other Japanese instruments. He is the 'pretty boy' of the group. In the American version, he seems as if he's obsessed with himself because he constantly refers to his 'beauty sleep'; however, in the Japanese version he rarely mentions himself. Some think Sage can be vain because he wears slacks, suits, and other nice clothing. In the series, Sage is never really seen wearing blue jeans. Sage, even though he is usually calm and practical, has his wreckless moments in which he does wild and foolish things. It's like he has a split personality.Most of the time his thoughts control his actions; however, there are times when his emotions take control. For instance, when he gets really pissed off he lashes out and falls into a blind rage even though he's usually mild-mannered. Sage strives for adventure and action. He drives cars (illegally) and won a racing contest when he was 16. It caused an uproar when he was seen driving Mia's car when he was 14 (the legal driving age in Japan is 18). When we first meet Sage, he is falling headfirst of a building, and it doesn't even mess up his hair (kinda like Trowa.... I mean, that guy's hair never messes up!). Sage's Childhood Sage's father married into the Date family and practices Kendo. He is also a police officer. Sage's dad IS Japanese. The Date family would NEVER let a foreinger marry into the family. His personality is weaker than his wife's. Sage's mom is most likely the eldest daughter and is second in rank; therefore, only her father outranks her. She teaches at the dojo (women in Sage's family are both more powerful and higher rank than the men) Sage's grandfather is a very strict old man who is in charge of the dojo and Sage's upbringing. He taught Sage the way of the Bushi and how to control his temper (Sage was quite the rebellious one when he was younger ^_^) Yayoi is at least four years older than Sage (btw, she has black hair). She practices Kendo, speaks formal Japanese, and is a medical student with an evil sense of humor. Often, she used Sage as a dress-up doll, and even has a picture of him with ribbons in his hair. This is probably one of the main reasons he dislike talking to girls. Satsuki is two years younger than Sage. She doesn't practice Kendo, and she also doesn't speak formal Japanese. Satsuki calls Sage 'Ni-chan' (which means brother). She is probably the reason Sage is protective of women and children. Sage was rebellious when he was younger. It's not like he didn't like Kendo, he just didn't like all the etiquette. To teach Sage how to calm down, his grandfather made him study bonzai and the bamboo flute. Sage was very sick when he was a child (he was hospitalized once), and his parents dressed him up likke a girl following a theory that said girls live longer than boys. (there's info about this on the Korin Den cd, but I don't have that.... soooooo......) Sage scared children when he was younger. They saw his pale eyes and started crying. Yayoi told him to cover up one eye with hair so he wouldn't scare anybody. Just like that, the fabu Sage look that we all love was born!!!!!!! ^_______^ During Sage's childhood, he took one of the family's sacred swords and started playing with it in the courtyard. While playing, he ended up breaking one of his grandfather's bonzais. Luckily, his grandfather never noticed because he put a tulip in its place. Sage's family, Date, decended from Date Masamune (a general who built a castle in Sendai, the capital of Miyagi). Sage lives in the outskirts of Sendai in the dojo that he will one day inherit.
