| Battle Sage Many think Sage is the most useful of all the others because he controls the Korin (Halo) armor which is very powerful with extrordinary capabilities that goes beyond those of the other armors. Sage's grandfather forced him into competing in a Kendo tournament against Kazamatsuri Shigo, a famous Kendo practitioner. Shingo had never been in the Junior tournament against Sage before and wanted to try his luck. During the fight, which Shingo was losing, he threw something into Sage's left eye (his right is the one that's covered by hair). Sage gets pissed and hits him in the face, knocking his mask off, and knocking him out. This was so not proper etiquette. Sage's grandfather, who is furious because Sage used prohibited skills, send him to the hanare (which is a seperate building away from the main one). Sage didn't believe what he did was wrong. He felt that if he didn't do what he did. Shingo would've never become a true swordsman (isn't that so thoughtful of Sage? ^_^) ; therefore, Sage knew the concept of Rei, and the Korin Yoroi showed itself. Later, Shingo sent a letter to Sage hoping to see him at next year's tournament. Here's what it said: "I regreted hearing your absence at this year's tournament......... but, a tournament without you had no challenge. And even though I won, I don't feel satisfied. I believe that I'll see you there next year....." A weird thing about Sage's sword is it reflects the owner's mental conditon. If the owner is corrupted by evil or confused, the sword loses light. Here's a good example. In the episode "Shallow Darkness" Sage lost a lot of brightness because he was confused in all the darkness. The brightness of the sword shows how focused Korin is. In the American version, Sage's virtue, or attribute, is Wisdom. In the Japanese version, Sage has the power of Rei (courtesy). Sage likes to have a plan while in battle. In fact, he's the one you'll hear say that the group needs a plan. He doesn't like to rush into battle, and he always considers the consequences. Sage's main rival is Anubis (Cale). He is the only RW who has an exact opposite, and he's one of the only ones who can defeat a warlord on his own. Anubis (once again, thisis Cale) controls the power of darkness and corruption. Sage controls the power of light. Also, Sage can use his power to heal. Tiny tidbits 1. In the manga, Sage had pierced ears. He didn't have pierced ears in the anime. 2. He is one of the two troopers with healing abilities. The other is Cye. 3. He has really good sight. Sage can see things athers can't. Not just with his eyes, but sometimes with his spirit. 4. Sage was born in Miyagi 5. He could drive when he was 14 (duh!) 6. Sage is one of the three characters that has an emphasis on the eye. The other two are Rajura (Dais) and Anubis (Cale). 7. Both of his sisters have black hair 8. In some Japanese folklore, purple eyes are the sign for Demon (hmmm... he WAS quite the trouble-maker). 9. Sage shares the same blood type as his ancestor. 10. He was trained to inherit his armor. |
