The Kriskarg set up their stronghold upon the maleable face of the Fields of Time. They were entitled to this, for they were gods. The Arkona set up their own stronghold. They were the Judges, they were beyond question. And then, a new stronghold was created. Some say it was merely a Kriskarg gate, rebuilt. It hardly matters, now.
Once, there was a warrior prince. He was of a lesser race, a race known to be infested with dreamers and poets, singers and enchanters. His race owed fealty to another, one full of pride regarding their knowledge, their endeavours toward the truth from out of the Dark Age after the DawnWalkers had left. And so, the prince, still but a child, went to live with the son of a Knowledgable One.
The sages say the prince came upon a great library, one just being built, called the Abraxis. And there he read of the places from where the DawnWalkers came, before they left forever. He read of the Edge. And he wanted to got here. Once grown, he defied ancient laws and crossed the boundaries into another part of the multiverse. And there, he met all the nightmares that he would ever have.
He returned less than alive. But he returned still locked in the realm of dreaming. His brother, he who is called Mannoc, took note of the dreams, and made them real. From out of pain and terror, Mannoc created Vantaarg.
And then, Mannoc proceeded to create damnation.
