Valley Forge
is about a cold, hard winter where General George Washington's troops camped.
The troops camped in cold, drafty huts. A lot of the
soldiers
died because of few clothes and diseases like small pox. Many of the soldiers
wanted to go back home. But General Washington and his faithful troops
stayed. Meanwhile, the British were warm and comfortable in Philadelphia.
Washington sent out troops to Philadelphia to try to stop the British but
every time the troops got near the British they were shot and killed. The
American troops got low on food and supplies. A few of the men had boots
and the rest of the them had to wrap their feet in rags.
In June, Washington's
army went to Philadelphia and beat the British.
