The Battle of Saratoga

    The Battle of Saratoga is often called the turning point of the war between the British army and American army.  The British wanted to capture New York State which would divide the colonies in half.  The plan was that General Burgoyne was going to come from the north, Lt.-Col. St. Leger was coming from the west, and General William Howe was coming from the south so that the British could capture all of New York State.
    The British plan didn't work however and the colonists were able to stop them from capturing New York State.  The victory at Saratoga gave the colonists hope that they could win the whole war.
