FRIDAY 9th MAY - This summer's CCFC shopping list: A keeper(s!), some height, some muscle, a matchwinner, a couple of goal- scorers, some tactics, and a mad, mad lottery winner to invest in CCFC! Big mistake by CCFC to not cut season ticket prices. The club aren't doing enough to fill those empty seats! Good luck to Telford in their bid to get Gary Mills as their manager - they're welcome to him.... FRIDAY 2nd MAY - Adios to pessimism - some good news! Congrat's to Isaac Osbourne on a fine debut. Congrat's to CCFC for managing a point! (A goal would have been nice, but let's not push it, eh?). And congrat's to `Fan Of The Year' Kev Monks - another 20,000 like him, and we're laughing! And the Supporters Trust is finally happening. All I need is 1,000 new subscribers! Email [email protected] - now! FRIDAY 25th APRIL - If CCFC were an animal, it would have been put down by now. We're not even lame - we're lifeless. One point, and no goals against Walsall, Derby, or even Stoke? Disgraceful. Has any team ever fell so far so fast? From 4th to 20th in twelve weeks? Safe now, but only because of others. I've been saying for months that CCFC are feeble - and Macca has finally realised. Roll on the summer break! FRIDAY 18th APRIL - Villa staying up, Leicester going up, Strachan's going to Cardiff, CCFC were humiliated by Ipswich, and played off the pitch by Walsall - what a terrible week for football. Well, CCFC anyway. The end of this season can't come fast enough! The only positive we can cling to is that Premier bound Pompey ended as low down the table last season! New fanzine out now! Hopefully there's still some CCFC fans left to buy it... FRIDAY 11th APRIL - Happy now Strachan? Are you so in need of your pay off that you need your money now? Or are you merely trying to finally kill the club you failed at? A suggestion: Why not bring your team to Highfield Road for a pre-season friendly? A sell-out crowd should be guaranteed, and at 12 a ticket, that should raise your money. You're guaranteed a very warm reception .... Good luck for Sunday, Watford!! [v Southampton in the F.A. Cup]. FRIDAY 4th APRIL - For 135 minutes it was like watching CCFC - then England stepped up a gear. Time for CCFC to do the same. And if the youngsters need inspiring .... While the man might be a tad over-hyped, I would suggest CCFC's youth team dressing room door has two words printed above it: "Wayne Rooney". At an age when most people are still trying to sneak into pubs, he is a national hero! Hats off.... FRIDAY 28th MARCH - Blimey! It's getting close to two pairs of pants time! We're to near to the bottom of the table, and 47 points probably isn't enough to survive. Macca was at the Arsenal-Chelsea match this week. Maybe the rumours we're signing Zola and Bergkamp ARE true! Sympathies to Barry Quinn - played out of position for three years, then released. Good riddance to most of the others on the list though.... FRIDAY 21st MARCH - Garbage. Absolute garbage. If CCFC can't be bothered, neither can I this week.... FRIDAY 14th MARCH - Three players badly injured, another sent off, plus three biggish name redundancies. And another player makes the front not the back page. Another dull week at Highfield Road then .... JJ and Eustace found the net again, which has hopefully pushed their value up when they leave in the summer. Attendance are dropping, and the club are doing nothing to get people back. What a great time to be a CCFC fan.... FRIDAY 7th MARCH - There can be NO excuses for our display against the worst team in D1. And there cannot be a CCFC fan who now believes we can make the play-offs. Ten players are expected to leave CCFC this summer - that number should go up after Wednesday. Just awful. I think McAllister could be amongst them too. Everything he tries is failing - and rumour has it everybody is falling out behind the scenes.... FRIDAY 28th FEBRUARY - Just when you think you've reached the bottom of the barrel .... and with Grimsby and Sheff Wednesday to come, we could yet find more layers to scrape away!! With CCFC so goal-shy, I've heard some interesting rumours as to why Joachim has suddenly started playing, and why McSheffrey isn't. Not enough space to repeat them here though .... Finally, a plea to Notts Forest: If you don't need Darren Huckerby!! FRIDAY 21st FEBRUARY - Another dozen corners, another dozen chances to put the opposition under pressure wasted. Are our management team watching the same game as the fans? If they are, why are they not changing things? CCFC have used 38 players so far this season, and most haven't a clue how to score a goal. Not that is matters, as most players haven't a clue how to set them up either - yet we're still only five points off a play-off place.... FRIDAY 14th FEBRUARY - CCFC were offered Jansen on loan. GM should've bitten Souness's hands off, but as of yet he still has both .... CCFC keep missing out on players as wage demands are to high. We more than likely won't make the play-offs with what we have - splash some cash CCFC! Surprised to hear Holdsworth is the link between midfield and attack in our 4-5-1 system. If he's not the `1', who is? If he is the `1', why is he?! FRIDAY 7th FEBRUARY - Premiership wannabees CCFC have now been outplayed and outfought by the mighty Brighton, Rochdale and Watford. And never mind John Collins, Joan Collins would've been better than most of the shower versus Watford. There's more chance of Graham Norton scoring with a woman than CCFC finding the net the way we are currently creating! Joachim finally looks like making the first t.... wrong! Injured again.... FRIDAY 31st JANUARY - How embarrassing! Gary Mac shown how to take a corner by a Third Division player!! Perfectly delivered, and a quality finish too. Time he shared set piece duties with others, as his aren't coming off at the moment. Holdsworth said this week that it's time the team lifted the fans - some would suggest him leaving would help! Meanwhile, Mr. Huckerby has fallen to 27th in the pecking order at Man City. We need his pace and scoring ability. FRIDAY 24th JANUARY - To those Forest fans that keep moaning that they were robbed on Saturday - get over it! We had thirty shots to your one in the meeting at Highfield Road, and you took ALL three points! Saturday sees CCFC journey to Rochdale in the FA Cup, and a lot of people would say `definite away win', but CCFC's record against them is very poor! Rumour has it 'Dale want their manager out - what chance a change of mind if they dare to win on Saturday?! FRIDAY 17th JANUARY - CCFC earned a place in the fourth round of the FA Cup with victory over Cardiff, and around 250,000 from Sky for showing the match - which by a coincidence is the same as the amount of damage caused to the local pubs. The woodwork has come to our aid far to often recently, and it's time for CCFC to stop giving the ball away as cheaply as they are. To many chances that are being created against us are from our own lapses in concentration. FRIDAY 10th JANUARY - I thought the days of throwing away decent leads were gone. Much as the TV replay against Cardiff will swell the coffers, I'd have preferred to get the job done first time. Not an easy game. The transfer window's been open for 10 days but as of yet there's been no movement for our talented youngsters. On Shaw's current form, Davenport's best hope of a first team place looks to be at Arsenal or Newcastle!! I hope he'll remain a CCFC player though.... FRIDAY 27th DECEMBER and FRIDAY 7th JANUARY - TELETEXT HOLIDAY! [THESE CONTRIBUTIONS CAN ALSO BE FOUND ON PAGE 544 DURING THE FOOTBALL SEASON] |
