High School: In 1995 Alexander graduated from Jordan High School in Durham, N.C. and also became the Gatorade Player of the Year and also earned third-team All-America recognition from BlueChip and Parade magazines. As a senior he ended his career as Jordan High's all-time leading scorer (2,087 points), which included a school single-season mark of 797 points. As a sophomore two-times he became first-team All-State selection and a second-team All-State choice. In 1994 he helped the U.S. team to the World Championship by playing in the Albert Schweitzer International Youth Tournament in Germany.

 

1998-99:

·          Alexander 684 points ranked him second on the Bulldog single-season chart.

·          Against Utah (37) and San Diego State (35) he had back-to-back 30-point games.

·          Against San Diego State he hit career-best 15 field goals.

·          In all of his games he scored in double figures with 19 20-plus point games.

·          He led Fresno State with 24 points against No. 25 Temple with career-best six three-point baskets in that game.

·          Twice he was the top assist man including a career-best nine against Sacramento State.

·          He scored 37 points against No. 13 Utah in Selland Arena and which were ninth-highest in Fresno State history.

1997-98:

Transferred to Fresno State in the Fall of 1997 and sat out the 1997-98 season in accordance with NCAA transfer regulations.

At Virginia:

In over the course of the 1995-96 and 1996-97 seasons he played in53 games , averaging 14.3 ppg and 3.6 rpg ? shot 45.2% from the field overall and 46.4% from three-point range during his career.

1996-97:

After leading the Cavaliers in scoring (14.8 ppg) and shooting 44.4% from three-point range as a sophomore he earned an honourable mention All-ACC honors. In the NCAA Tournament he assisted Virginia to an 18-13 record, where they lost in the first round to Iowa.

1995-96:

As a freshman he played in 22 of 27 games, finishing third on the squad and 15th in the ACC in scoring (13.9 ppg). He was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team in addition to an honorable mention All-ACC recognition. Against Duke he a career-high 30 points. On nine occasions he became the team's leading scorer. Against Liberty he recorded his first career double-double by totaling 21 points and 10 rebounds. Two-times he became ACC Rookie of the Week Award winner and recipient of Virginia's Rookie of the Year honour.
