Margaret Thomason

Margaret THOMASON was christened Sep 14 1793 in Leigh Lancashire,
the daughter of Peter THOMASON & Margaret GREEN
who had married Jun 9 1772 at St Oswald's Winwick.

Unmarried and young,
she gave birth to a son, Noah, in Bedford Leigh,
christened Sep 7 1811 at St Mary's Leigh Lancashire.

The 1841 Census shows Noah at age 30
living with his mother and several siblings on Youth Street in Atherton.

Living in the same household was
Elizabeth CROFT and her daughter Sarah CROFT age 2 months.
Although she could not write,
Elizabeth registered the birth and listed Noah as the father.

Upon their marriage Apr 16 1843,
Sarah CROFT became Sarah THOMASON.

Noah's mother seems never to have married
and there is also the possibility that Margaret was the mother of the following
since only the mother's name appeared in the parish register (ie: Margaret or Peggy) --

Elizabeth chr Apr 13 1816 in Leigh
Henry chr Jul 15 1820 in Leigh
Joseph chr Feb 1822 in Leigh

Margaret doesn't appear in the next Census,
so it would appear that she died sometime between 1841 to 1851.

Margaret THOMASON was my 4X GR grandmother !!
