Concert Review

We all got there a little before 6 (actually, Tracy, Lisa and Emily got there before me!). We waited in line till they let us in, got seats, right next to the speakers! We talked, drank, got nachos, talked some more! David didn't come on till about 10:10 or so. He played about an hour and a half, to an hour and 45 minutes. While we were sitting there waiting, Lisa knocked over her beer bottle, which knoked over my soda! We had to clean all that up....this guy at the table behind us, who was in a wheelchair, came over with napkins for us. Later, the waitress came over and told us a guy was buying us drinks....we didn't find out it was him ‘till later. The lady he was with caught David's sweat towel! ::::jealous!::::: Then a little while later, after our spill, the people next to us spilt a drink! Lisa said it was a chain reaction. Don't worry Lisa, we still love ya! Before the show, they played "Rowdy". And we heard Rhett Akin's new song too. Tracy and Lisa kept seeing people they knew. I was glad I had brought a Kleenex with me...we tore it up, to use as earplugs! Just for our left ears, since they would be facing the speakers.....we would have been deaf in that ear if we hadn't!

David started with "The Faster I Go". These are some he did: "If I Never Stop Loving You", "The Sudden Stop", he said two songs on the album were remakes, and then did these...."Hello Walls" and "Wonderful Tonight", "Something to Think About", "Goodnight Sweetheart", "Things Your Daddy Wouldn't Want Us To Do", "Day In, Day Out", "Another You". He also did, it was the third or fourth song he did, George Strait's "Overnight Male", which was incredible! He talked about the ACM's.asked if we all watched.....then said he wasn't on it, or something like that. Said how he hopes one day he will be. He talked about the great awards George won, and how great it was when Garth won.... David's like...."And Garth said, ‘George, you the man!'". He introduced his band, and told little stories about them. When he introduced the fiddle player (Doug Hamilton), he asked if this place had popcorn, and we yelled yes, and David said to hide it. He said that Doug loves popcorn. He told how he even ate it out of a trashcan one time. But David said he put it there, and there was nothing wrong with it. A little later some lady came up with a bag of popcron for him...and of course he took a bite! He talked about the bass player, Carroll Huffman, and how one time, they all got on a plane to Cleveland, or someplace, I forget, but he got on a plane to Denver! So, they call him Denver. Oh, he introduced his acoustic guitar player, Ron Hembey if I'm not mistaken, and that he was the lead singer for The Buffalo Club! He sang one of their songs, "Nothing Less Than Love". David sang backup. He also said Ron is from MO, Poplar Bluff to be exact! He did a rock-n-roll set, starting out with AC/DC's "Back In Black", Metallica's "Enter Sandman", and "Sweet Home Alabama", with "Walk This Way" and "Play That Funky Music" thrown in. A couple of the band members helped sing on a couple. I can't remember what was at the end, and what was the encore......but he did "Boys Will Be Boys". He divided the audience in half, and had the right side, when he pointed to them, sing "Boys will be boys", and the left, when pointed to us, sing "when the girls will let them". (Not sure if I got the words quite right!). He did Van Halen's "You Really Got Me", and and Eagle's song, "Heartache Tonight". I just love the little shake David does! Too cute!

We should have gotten some really good pictures! Esp, since three of the four of us had cameras! Well, we waited around by the table for awhile, talked to the guy that bought us drinks, Emily talked to the band, and we took pictures of us, them we went to get in the autograph line. I had the square album cover things (that they put up in record stores), for us to get signed. I got one for Jamie, who couldn't go, since she moved to MN! I got my picture with hiim. He's just such a cutie! Oh, and the fiddle player, he came up to us in the autograph line, and started talking to Emily. He seemed pretty cool......too bad he's married! <G> It would have been funny if he would have stayed in line with us till we got up by David.

Then we headed out, said out goodbye's, and left for home. We left a little before 1am, I got home about 1:30, and they had the drive back to Jefferson City. It was such a great night! Tracy, Lisa, Emily...I had a blast!!!!!!!!

David was just so great! I wouldn't be surprised if one day, he's nominated for Entertainer of the year! I definetly think he's got what it takes!
