| Vaison La Romaine is a wonderful little town. Try to visit on Thursday so you can see the local market that occupies the central square. It is about one hour from Avignon. It is north of Mont Ventoux, the tallest mountain in the area. We recommend the Hotel Beffroi, which you can find by searching on the web at Yahoo.com "hotel beffroi" Be sure to see the Gallerie Ansatu on the Old City (it's easier to park and walk up to the old city).
