For a Friend
Mike O'Hagan was only 15 years old when his life tragically ended on
July 31, 2001 after serious head injuries following a fall down his basement steps. Mike was a brilliant musician and a good friend to me. After learning of his death I wrote this peom on my feelings of his passing. I later wrote a guitar to the poem and added a beautiful horn line. This song was played on September 28th at The Rock Show, but will never be played again.

Sadly I heard the news today,
about a boy who's life was stripped away.
A boy who sang a sweet, sweet tune,
a boy who's life ended too soon.
Sadly I heard the news today,
about a genious mind thrown away.
A mind that thought and wrote wonderful things,
a mind to which heaven he now brings.
Sadly I heard the news today,
about a future that will not play.
A future that looked happy and carefree,
a future now that will never be.
Sadly I heard the news today,
about this very, very tragic day.
And as time passes me by,
I only wish I had said goodbye.
