Father Solanus Casey Solanas Casey

About this page...

Venerable Solanus Casey (often misspelled as SolanAs) was a Capuchin monk who lived from 1870 - 1957. Solanus Casey was one of 14 children, and had several brothers who also became priests.

Father Casey was a pious man to whom many miracles - especially of healing - are attributed. Many people traveled to visit with him and to ask him to pray for their intentions, which he did. Despite the attention, Father remained a holy and pious man until his death in 1957.

Solanus Casey is sometimes referred to as the "Porter of St. Bonaventure's", because his job at St. Bonaventure's (in Detroit) was to answer the door. His cause for sainthood in the Catholic Church is now being considered by Rome.

The above link takes you to the official web site of the Father Solanus Guild and the Vice-Postulator's Office for the Cause of Venerable Solanus Casey, Capuchin Franciscan. It can be viewed in Arabic, English, French, German, Italian, Polish and Spanish.

The Official Solanus Casey web site also has a schedule of available hours for the St. Bonaventure Chapel, the Solanus Casey Center, Eucharist, Confessions, and Blessing of the Sick, as well as a phone number where group tours can be arranged.

You can also find several short biographies which illustrate Solanus Casey's "faith and trust in God", as well as testimonies from people who believe that Father Solanus interceded with God for their intentions. News clippings and events from the official Guild's quarterly news letter and other literature is available at the web site, including an official Novena.

The Center is closed on National Holidays.

Brother Richard Merling, O.F.M. Cap., oversees the web site and the Guild.
