From the Garden
Somebody said it is time to plant your garlic!  ?  There was a saying long ago - "To plant your garlic on the shortest day of the year and harvest it on the longest day of the year !"
We used to give  garlic bulbs in cute little sacks at Chrstmas - to either plant - or to eat.  I have heard that having garlic is as good as having ten mothers.
and ...  "Cloves of garlic hung around the necks of children and livestock to protect them from evil spirits, like witches, demons, vampires, and everyone else."
            [
Leo Buscaglia said his mother hung garlic around his neck and this was the reason he never had any childhood diseases - no one would come close to him ! ]

October is from the Latin word for eight.  October hath 31 days -  Full moon  -  October 7th.

Autumn is from the Latin word for maturing.  I once read where Autumn can be compared to the Twilight years.  The Middle years when activity slows down and greater wisdom starts to emerge.
