* Calendula
The Flower of October is the Calendula, an herb of the Thistle family.  Calendula has a long tradition in Herbal Medicine and folklore.  In Shakespeare's time people used the blossoms to flavor soup and stews.  The Calendula was often used for a yellow dye.

*  Pumpkin pancakes.  Gail said she uses Bisquick, adding cooked pumpkin and spices for their pumpkin pancakes.  Guess we will just have to experiment.

*    Barn Owl Nursery
The BIG NEWS - STARTING OCTOBER 7th  the nursery will be open 4 days a week!  Wednesday thru Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm. through December 16th.  They will hold our 25th Annual Holiday Open House November 8 - 11 and November 15 - 18 and  extend our season into December.  Join them as they celebrate the holidays and Barn Owl Nursery's 25th Anniversary !
