Hello, My name is Frieda Dawson. I have been a Cosmetologist for 20 years. When I started on my journey in the Cosmetology world, it covered a somewhat limited but rapidly growing area. Since then, this profession has expanded dramatically and there are new techniques arising every day. So, with all of the added information, this profession has had to branch out. What once was an all inclusive profession, has now become three, which are Cosmetology, Esthetician, and Nail Technician. I have learned many things during my profession and wanted a chance to pass on what I have learned, so I chose to become a Cosmetology Instructor.

As an Instructor, not only do I teach, encourage, and help; I perform most of the graduation ceremonies at House of Heavilin Cosmetology School, where I work. As the Instructor who performs graduation ceremonies, I wanted to give the students a “Cosmetology Graduation” card, but no such card existed for our profession. Many other professions that require money, time, education, dedication, and hard work, have a “Graduation” card, but ours did not. So I have tried to solve that problem by creating Graduation cards, for our profession. I have created Cosmetology, Esthetician, and Nail Technician graduation cards. Each group of cards has three different designs and words. I even went a little farther, and made envelopes that match each card, to make it easier at multiple student graduations. I wanted to give Instructors/Teachers a chance to give the students a heart felt congratulations and praise. Some of the students need the extra encouragement, and the “personal” touch. Many of the students are single Moms who don’t have anybody to see them out the door, so what we give them can mean so much more.
