Letting Love Go
Hands reach forth to grasp
Desperately holding their clasp
Fingers wrapped around their prize
Cravingly he pulls and tries
Holding back moments in time
Not allowing it to unwind
Trying to turn back the clock
Going back before the shock
A plan is formed in his brain
An idea only bordering on the sane
If I could only stop
The ticking of the clock
Take back the things I've said
Banish those thoughts from my head
Show you more love and care
And say "I love you" to no spare
I stop and let a heavy sigh
It doesn't matter how hard i try
The past is gone to stay
The present fading away
Nothing I could say or do
Except to say "I love you"
Where tomorrow may go
I just don't know
Maybe again we'll find a way
Or perhaps we'll pass and say
Hello and good-bye
And forgotten how we've cried
I hope this is never true
And I hold this memory of you
