On this 14th day of
July AD, 6 1843-personally appeared before the
subscribers a Justice for said district. Elizabeth
Mursh a resident of York District S. Carolina
aged 80 years who being first duly sworn
according to law, doth on her oath make the fol-
lowing declaration in order to obtain the benefit
of the provision made by the Act of Congrys before
July 4th 1836 - That she is the Widow of Robert
Mursh who was an Indian & served as a Soldier
in the American ranks during nearly the whole
of The War of The Revolution, which will appear
by reference to the records of the Department as he
was a Pensioner – that she has no evidence of
the services of her said husband save that upon
file in the Pension Office, & upon which he
drew his pension—
She further declared that she was married
to the said Robert Mursh on the 1st day of October
A.D. 1782 and that her husband the aforesaid
Robert Mursh died on the 7th day of December A.D.
1837 – and that she has remained a Widow
ever since that period, as will more fully
appear by reference to the proof hereto described-
Sworn to and subscribed on the day and year
above written before Elizabeth her mark Mursh

And I the said Johnathan P. Smith do hereby certify that
I am personally acquainted with Elizabeth Mursh
and know that she is unable to attend court from bodily
