| One detail we noticed when comparing to other C35 salons is that when you add a large MIRROR to the bulkhead, it makes the cabin seem much bigger and brighter! The setee cushions were home-made by the Woman of the House, who learned to "tuck-and-roll" while dissembling the old original cushions and studying how they were sewn together. The fabrics is regular upholstry fabrics, but an ordinary sewing machine (not an expensive heavy-duty one) did the job just fine. |

| We removed the pilot berth (bunk bed to port), so the setee to port would be more spacious. Also we installed a Dickinson Newport Diesel heater and the upper berth was just in the way (also, we just have no need for it). This diesel heater is very simple to operate and maintain and it runs for days and week 24/7 without any attention. It keeps the whole boat warm throughout, with the help of some fans here and there and it burns very clean. There is NO diesel smell inside or outside and no black smoke or soot or ashes out of the chimney! It is a great product - their customer support is great too. Before the installation of the diesel heater, we used a small electric heater in the main salon and an oil-filled electric radiator heater in the aft cabin. It was hard to keep the boat warm and condensation was a constant problem. With the diesel heater installed, the interior stays very dry and the heater puts out enough heat that we leave two portholes (custom installed to port in the head, and to starboard in the galley, that open to the cockpit) and sometimes the main companionway hatch open, while it is freezing outside! This way we always have fresh, but warm air. |
