JazzmenJazzmen

Jazzmen was our first Jungle Carpet Python. She was also the first experience we've had with purchasing a snake out of state and having it shipped. She made the long trip from California to Ohio safe and sound, and soon showed us what a good feeder she is. Although she likes to hiss when you pick her up, she's very docile once she's out of her cage and in your hands. We hope that with more handling she will become even more of a joy to hold.
Jazzmen's been eating two live mice in one feeding, so we converted her to small rats. She didn't want anything to do with the first rat we tried. But Terry rubbed a pinkie mouse on the rat's head, and Jazzmen ate it without thinking twice. Hopefully, after she's gotten a few rats through her system, we won't have to scent them any more.
We've been having problems keeping her humidity up, especially in the winter.  Terry and I cut a piece of sheet plastic to fit on top of her cage, cutting around the light fixture so it wouldn't melt. This seems to have done the trick.

BrockBrock

Brock is our latest addiction to our little family. We purchased him at a Reptile Show from Don Hamper, a well-known python breeder. We are excited about Brock because of his beautiful colors. We would love for him to pass those rich tones on to his offspring. He's a 2000 hatchling so we think he's about a year younger than Jazzy. As with all hatchlings he's a bit jumpy and nippy, but he has calmed down a lot with regular handling.

Care
Check out our page on Jungle Carpet Python care to read up on the basics of taking care of this beautiful species before purchasing one of your own. We recommend Jungle Carpet Pythons for more experienced keepers due to the humidity and heat needs of these Australian natives.
