GROUPS, PROJECTS AND WORK
All work was undertaken in self-forming groups and had three aspects. One was to formulate and complete a practical task associated with a "new literacy practice". The second was to collect data during the practical learning phase, to analyse that data, and write a formal report on what the group discovered about its collective learning. The third aspect involved each group presenting its work in a 45 minute formal presentation under conference conditions.

The popular online game Maplestory provided the focus for a second group. The six participants, none of whom had previously engaged in online gaming, set themselves the task of moving through multiple levels of the game. Their report describes what they learned and how they learned it.
Group 3: Machinima: World of Warcraft

The three members in the first of the machinima movie-making groups assigned themselves the task of creating a short movie using the World of Warcraft game engine. One group member was an avid WOW player but had no prior experience of machinima production. They report their work in this paper
Group 4: Machinima: Second Life

Six participants who self-identified as "Second Life Virgins" decided to make a short movie in Second Life. They report their work here.
Group 5: Machinima: The Movies

The third machinima group chose The Movies as the engine for creating their version of a bar room brawl. The group reports its learning here
Group 6: Music video
The first of two groups who opted to make music videos produced a 5 minute flick that combined segments from existing music videos, audio files, and self-produced still and moving images. Here is the report of their work
Group 7: Music video
The second music video group created a case study of the evolution of rock music videos based on the music of Bon Jovi. Their paper takes us through their work.
