Random Thoughts from the Chair
My neighbour asked if he could use my lawnmover. I told him of course, as long as he didnt take it out of my yard!

I should start of this little missive by apologising to one and all for not being at the October meeting. I especially owe Bob and Sharon an apology for leaving them high and dry at the last minute. It's unfortunate, but in my house, when one of the grandchildren come home from school with a bug, grandpa is sure to get it, only twice as bad as anyone else. So much for a messed up immune system.
I just received my renewal notice for membership last week, so I guess everyone else on the first half will have received theirs by now also. As I have stated before, please, please, please, note the "due by" date on the notice, and try to get them in as soon as possible. It certainly saves us at this end a lot of work and trouble trying to meet our deadlines.
As the new District Support Services Rep for UOAC, I'm trying desperately to establish a Regional (BC) Young Adult (20/40) Ostomy support group. I don't quite know yet what form it will take, but I'm hoping to establish a Provincial Parent group with local group members being part of it and meeting in their own areas. If any of you out there have any ideas of your own, please don't be shy about letting me know what you think. It's extremely important that we get your input into the formation of this group, as it is going to be YOUR GROUP. I will be developing a sort of application/information form very shortly, if I can get out from under all the political crap, and will be mailing them to all those whom we feel would be interested. So STAY TUNED, good things are about to happen.
As you may have noticed on our October newsletter, we have changed things around a bit this year. Our November meeting is now in Coquitlam at the Dogwood Pavilion, 624 Poirier St., Coquitlam. (North off of Austin Ave.), Sunday November 25th at 1:15 PM. As of yet, I haven't had time to get a speaker, but hopefully I'll be able to arrange something between now and meeting time. If anyone has any suggestions, please give me a call. If that's Grey Cup day, and with my luck it will be, come early and you'll be home in time for the game.
I'm going to get the jump on everyone this time, as I usually remember this in January. For those of you who will not be able to make it out to the November meeting, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and yours a Very Merry Xmas and hope that the year 2002 brings us all world peace, prosperity, good health and much happiness.
Hope to see you all on the 25th.

The White Rock satellite group met at E.T. Resources at 7:30 on October 11, 2001. Many thanks to Elaine of E.T. Resources for the use of her facilities and her knowledge. Elaine provided us with coffee, tea and cookies. Thank you again, Elaine.
We were a small group this time. It looks like Gail Williams & Patti Johnson will co-chair the meetings. You can contact Gail at 604-536-6207 or Patti at 604-574-3857 or 604-240-3899 (cell.)
At this meeting, we discussed other locations to meet at, as E.T. Resources meeting room will become too small as more people start coming to the meetings. We also came up with some ideas for speakers; herbalist, dietitian, continence nurse advisor, line dancing. Jim explained what was needed to make our satellite group official.
Our next meeting will be on November 15 at 7:00 at E.T. Resources. We will be having a rap session, and discuss more subjects for further meetings. Hope to see you there.
