| I am always amazed to hear of crash victims so badly mutilated they have to be identified by their dental records. What I cant understand is, if they dont know who you are, how do they know who your dentist is? |
| Greetings Fellow Earthlings, Well Christmas is around the corner. I was reminded of this when I went to the mall on the weekend. It seems when Halloween decorations come down the Christmas dec's go up. It feels like we go through an intense period of celebrations at the end of the year as we leap from Thanksgiving to Halloween to Christmas and then down into the January blahs. It is important at this time of year not to load up on your stress level. Sometimes it is better to keep it simple, shed some of those things that HAVE to be done and instead HAVE some fun we can't all be Martha Stewart after all. Speaking of Christmas, the CCRA, formerly Revenue Canada, is playing the Grinch. For those of you who have claimed the disability tax credit, you will have gotten the LETTER. Well, read M. Mathieu's reply and maybe you will be inspired to reply with a LETTER of your own. Next we have an article on having a baby after pouch surgery. The author, an MD, addresses the concerns of sexual dysfunction, carrying and birthing the child and the effects on pouch function. Sometimes we forget about those wonderful people who put up with us, our spouses and other significant's (or SOSes). Well they have needs and fears too and the article Family and Spouse - Their Needs explores these issues. . As our population ages, ostomies among seniors are increasing. The next article addresses some of the problems faced by seniors with a new ostomy. Also this month we have some informative articles on the functional differences in colostomy types and what colitus really is, well actually - what colitus really is not . For October's meeting we had a demo of Tai Chi as an exercise discipline. I thank all of the attendees for their interest and I offer the article Posture Makes a Difference as a follow up. Posture is one of the founding principles of Tai Chi. Posture can be practiced without doing Tai Chi so even if you didn't make it to the meeting you can still take this away with you. Finally, la piece de resistance - forgive my bad french accent, a very funny and witty article about living with an ostomy and some guy named Murphy who wrote a law book. Don't forget to look on the back page for your invitation to Vancouver Chapter's Christmas party! Deadline for reservations in 25 November. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Bob |
