Hes one of us, Ryon informed them.
Denny laughed. Got the slip on your guys--not bad for a bunch of back street thugs, he announced.
The small band of rebels stepped out of the woods, having surrounded Ryons group. Ryon smiled and laughed softly.
Dont stroke your ego too much, Ryon said. We still have a mission to survive.
Ours is a rescue, Denny informed him simply.
Ryon smiled lightly. Rule number one--never risk the entire group for a single member.
Denny smirked. Rule number two--cover each others asses. Were here on Whitneys orders to save Nadine. Whitney came out here alone. Have you seen her?
Shes here, Ryon replied simply. But shes hardly alone. He turned toward the group. Prepare to enter.
A group of five men darted across the cemetery and entered the passageway. Ryon was included in the five. Five minutes after they had entered, the next group went and the others soon followed. Group one, three, and five ran quietly up the stairs. Group two and four ran toward the dungeon.
Whitney faced Frazer within the bedroom. Her fear had long since been replaced with anger and hatred. This was war and Whitney was trained for times like these. It was him or her, and Whitney knew who the better fighter was. Frazer had his laser gun aimed at her, thinking this would subdue her. He intended to kill her anyway.
Alright, Whitney, we can do this the easy way or the hard way. Where are the plans? Does Brent have them?
Whitney raised a cocky brow. I don't owe you a comment on anything, Frazer, she snapped lowly. If you want to kill me, I suggest you get on with it--if you don't, then lock me back in my cell.
Frazer gave her a raised brow. Your friends are going to die if you don't tell me.
My friends are going to die if I do tell you. They knew the risks, she snapped.
Don't pretend to be so callus with me, Whitney. I know how you think, remember? I also know your fears. He opened the drawer and removed a pair of shackles. He tossed them toward her. Put them on behind your back, he ordered simply.
Put them on me yourself, she growled lowly.
Fine, Frazer snapped. Guard!
The guard immediately entered the room with his laser in hand. He glanced at both of them.
Set your laser down and cuff the woman, Frazer ordered.
The guard did as he ordered and approached Whitney. The guard bent down to pick up the shackles. Frazer was observing closely but in one split second, Whitney kicked the guard directly in the chin, throwing him up and back. Whitney had known the guard would be in Frazer's line of fire when she made her move. Frazer attempted to fire upon her but was struck by the flying guard. Frazer quickly caught his balance but was kicked from over top of the guard by Whitney's flying roundhouse kick. Frazer's gun flew from his hand and he hit the dresser behind him.
Whitney jumped on the rising guard's back, knocking him back down while she crossed him in path to Frazer. He reached for the guard's laser but saw Whitney's fist fly toward him. Frazer was able to block it with his arm. Brent was right, her fists were her weak point. Whitney recoiled and snap kicked him in the groin. Frazer immediately dropped to his knees.
She lowered herself in front of the man who was now doubled over in pain. Was it good for you? she snarled lowly yet suggestively.
Whitney then glanced at the clock and realized she only had ten minutes to get to the dungeon before Nadine was killed. Whitney grabbed the laser gun from the dresser and ran for the door. She would have to kill Frazer later. Whitney quickly entered the hall and ran for the stairs. She wasn't even half way down the first set of steps when she heard a gun blast. Whitney suddenly froze and her heart almost pounded through her chest.
Nadine-- she gasped softly.
Whitney ran down the steps and came to the first floor. A guard spotted her and fired. Whitney jumped around the corner to avoid being killed. Just then there was a shot from the stairway as well. The laser fire hit the wall near her head. Luckily they were lousy shots. Whitney spun and fired at the guard from upstairs. The laser guns were rather clumsy at times because of their size. More guards came down the hall she was standing within. Whitney was in trouble now.
She quickly darted across the hall and narrowly avoided the laser fire of both the guard on the steps and the one in the hall. Whitney threw open a door and dived in while aiming her gun around quickly. The room was empty but the guards would soon be coming for her. Whitney ran for the balcony, threw open the doors, and looked down. It was a short drop to the ground. Whitney climbed over the rail and jumped. She fell when she landed but quickly got back up and ran before the guards could fire at her. Whitney ran back around to the opening in the cemetery. They may have killed Nadine, but she could at least save Zach.
Denny stepped over the dead guard and unlocked Nadine's cell. The orange liquid seeps from the dead guard. Denny stares at the blood-like substance while slinging his weapon over his shoulder.
What the hell is that shit anyway?
Ryon leads the rebels across the dungeon. As soon as Nadine was untied, she grabbed the discarded laser from the dead guard. Zach could be heard pounding on his cell door violently.
Over here! Let me out and hurry, Zach shouted.
Gene and another rebel ran toward Zach's cell and unlocked it. Zach
bolted from the cell and snatched Gene's laser gun as he ran.
Whitney's in trouble! Zach ran down the corridor and headed for the stairs.
One of the other rebels quickly turned and followed Zach. On their way to the second level, laser blasts were being exchanged. Zach suddenly stopped to see a sword on the wall. He removed it and ran up the staircase two steps at a time. The rebel following him had a hard time keeping up.
Zach came up behind the rebels who conquered the second floor hallways. Zach jumped into the open hallway and quickly looked around. He wasn't even sure where Whitney would be. He then noticed the stairs to the tower. Zach ran up them and was almost hit by laser fire. He flattened himself against the wall for a moment. Frazer was the one firing upon him. Frazer popped out once more but his laser fizzled. Frazer tossed the gun and ran up the steps to the very top of the tower. It was several flights up to the top. Frazer slammed the iron door behind him and barred it.
The rebels headed toward the ballroom door. More alien guards appeared from around the corner and fired at them. One rebel dropped to the hall floor, dying instantly. Five rebels chased after the small cluster of aliens. The other nine ran to the ballroom door and shot the lock, leaving a huge laser hole. They busted the door open and stormed into the ballroom. Several guards fired at them from across the ballroom. The rebels dived to the floor and fired back, hitting two alien guards. The other two continued to fire, attempting to stay out of range. |
