We see Koon casually seated in an elegant chair in the hallway while watching the grandfather clock only seconds away from noon. Belamy can be seen anxiously standing near the kitchen doorway and stares toward the front door. Chrissy peaks over the railing from the stairs near the second floor. She wrenches her fingers together and also stares at the door. Koon grins while waiting for the minute hand to move to its final position. The front door suddenly opens to reveal Reggie with the dagger in her hand. Koon looks to Reggie with shock. Belamy and Chrissy both appear stunned and take several steps closer then abruptly stop. Koon bolts upright.
KOON
That's not possible. You couldn't have made it back in time. You cheated!
REGGIE
There were no rules. How could I cheat?
KOON
Raven transported you here. That's not you bringing it back.
REGGIE
Raven didn't transport me here. I brought it back all on my own--on my own two feet.
KOON
That's not possible! How could you have gotten here so fast?
REGGIE
If you must know, I ran.
KOON
Then you let Raven die?
REGGIE
No, he's on his way. He'll be along shortly.
Koon shakes his head with hostility. Belamy and Chrissy slowly approach from the back hall and the stairs.
KOON
You couldn't have run that fast. You cheated--you lose!
REGGIE
I didn't. I win. You're the one who cheats. Dylan told me about his deal with you.
(pause)
He pledged his life to you in order to save me from the fire that killed our parents--a
fire that you yourself were responsible for in the first place. You killed my parents
just to claim my brother's life for your kingdom.
(pause)
My brother and I will be leaving just as soon as he gets here.
Reggie casually places the dagger on the table near the stairs. Chrissy pauses on the last step, glances at the dagger, and then stares at Reggie.
KOON
He couldn't prove any of that, and neither can you.
(stern)
You won't be going anywhere. You'll take your rightful place alongside me as
arranged. As for your brother, I'll have his head mounted on my wall.
Koon raises his hand to Reggie with a threatening sneer. A bolt shoots from his hand toward her. Reggie raises her own hand. The bolt suddenly dissipates. Koon appears stunned. Reggie looks to her hand, flexes it, lowers it, and smiles.
REGGIE
That tingled.
Chrissy and Belamy appear almost as shocked as Koon. The front door bursts open to reveal a panting Dylan in his human form. All eyes are upon him.
DYLAN
Damn, I'm really out of shape.
REGGIE
A steady diet of twinkies will do that.
KOON
(stunned)
What's going on? Who turned him back?
Reggie eyes Dylan, smiles, then looks back at Koon.
REGGIE
It's a funny story, although I'm not sure you'll find it all that amusing.
