| Last september, "Hackers attacked, and broke into Valve Softwares' secure systems, stealing vital information and code from the HL2 project, setting back the release date, and infuriating gamers everywhere. The hackers have threatened to release everything they stole, if Valve refuses to come clean about certain practices they allegedly used in order to build up hype. The hacker told the world that Valve had never planned to release HL2 at all in Sept. 2003, and instead, said that only to scare competition,a nd increase hype in order to better the sales of HL2 when it finally was released. The hacker claimed to have a document that proved this point, and indeed, threatened to release it along with Valve's now SOURCE engine, the graphics engine they will be using in HL2, and that they've already licensed out to several developers for a hefty profit. Fortunately, no such document has as of yet been released, nor has the game engine. |
