Journal to Japan - 5/11

June 8, 2001 Friday (cloudy)

woke up not too happy because of the email I got last night.  We finally went to Tokyo tower today.  On the way there, we ate at a gyuudon (beef bowl) place again.  It's almost like Japanese fast food (cheap, fast)  I forgot my sunglasses there but was able to retrieve it later.  We exchanged money at a bank, we spent much less money than I expected.  Between my brother and I, we spent only about a hundred dollars a day.  Only?!!!  Maybe that's including hotel and all, and transportation was quite expensive.  Oh wait, 100 dollars for the 2 of us, meaning 50 each, silly me =P

Tokyo tower is quite impressive.  The views are gorgeous up on the toop.  You can see the entire city.  The telescope is really powerful you can actually see individual persons.  I remember you can even look into other people's house.  I later watched this TV series starring Kyoko Fukada where she played a store clerk working at Tokyo tower and she used the telescope to spy on the guy she had a crush on =]  I bought some more postcards and stamped them again.  I also bought a gold coin (ok, maybe not gold) with Dandan's name on it for her bday.  I think she liked it, much better improvement from the "necklace" I got her the year b4 =]

Afterwards, we went to Akihabara again.  On our way there, we bought some really cool shaped coke.  Anywayz, I'm bad at drawing.  I can't even remember why it was so special due to the poor drawing I have on my journal.... =[  We found out that the best place to check emails is not internet cafe, but in electronic stores.  There's free internet because they have demos for ADSL.  More stuff about that email I got which i'm deleting, yadda yadda yadda.  And I'm just going to leave the matter until I return to US.  I saw some electrical Japanese-English dictionaries.  But I coulnd't find one where they had furigana for the Japanese Kanji (the readings for the Chinese characters), so I didn't get one.  We left there w/o buying anything again.

We went to Shinjuku for dinner.  We walked around a lot.  Today was the most tiring day for me.  I was really hungry and my feet hurt like hell.  Awww, poor me =P  My bro was persistent in finding this tonkatsu (fried pork chop) restaurant which he actually found this time =]  It was pretty good .  The waitress actually spoke Chinese too.

We played a lil video game.  There's so many kinds of rhythm games in Japan  (All kinds of music instrument and button pressing, etc)  Random comment: can you think of a longer word than rhythm that contains no vowel? =]  I played this punching game, it wasn't that fun cuz I didn't know the right timing at all.

Shinkjuku at night is full of sex shows, topless dancing, etc.  A lot of girls stand outside trying to get customers.  We also went to Roppongi, which had a lot of Caucasians.  A lot of sex related business there also.  Some of these girls dressed really nicely too, like in prom dresses.  It's kinda sad to see really pretty girls in this kind of business =(

We caught the last subway home.  Today was a very tiring day.  I played the sniping game again, I'm actually not bad at the game.  Says so himself, lol.  It's really fun.  My hand shakes less now too (be like the stone - from enemy at the gates)  When we went  back to the hotel, Andy talked to me about my problem (concerning that email) which made me feel better =]  So I'm not going to check my emails anymore to keep this good feeling going.  Ah, ignorance is bliss
