Acrylic Paint 2' x 3' Emulating Project
Emulated Contemporary Artist
Michel Le Roux
2003 - Fundementals of Design
For this project we had to take a picture of a famous person from a magazine and alter it in three ways. The first [left, acrylic] was to follow a black and white value scale. We needed to trace the image and break it up into 5 levels (light to dark) and then paint it. The second portion [middle, marker] was the same concept, but instead of blocks of color we used different sizes of dots (created by a circle template to keep the sizes uniform). The third portion [right, acrylic] was to use a monochrom color scale and to abstract the image.
Do you recognize this person? Hint: You could find him in the movies.
2004 - Painting I
For this project we were to find a contemporary artist who we liked and then we were to copy their style.  After studying their style, our own style evolved.

The most challenging part of this assignment for me was that we had to handcraft our own canvas (yeah - power tools!) - that was both interesting and rewarding for me. The requirements were that we were to make a frame that was at least 2x3 feet. We also had to stretch and gesso the canvas.
Below is some work from my college and high school years, I hope to have some of my other pieces up here sooner, rather than later. Maybe eventually, some future works - now that I have alllllll the time in the world!!!

For our final project, we were to find an image (from a magazine, the Internet, an old painting, etc.) and abstract it. I choose a shell photograph that I found on webshots. I printed, scanned, and altered the image in Adobe. I then made a overhead projection and enlarged it to the fit the canvas. This project was done in acrylics.
