Seminar is a time period in between blocks three and four that can be used for studying, getting make up assignments, or help from a teacher. It can also be used as down time for students. They are able to read or just sit and relax for a brief period. Students are able to get passes from teachers that they need to see anytime during the day. Once a pass is received the student has permission to visit that teacher during seminar providing the appropriate paperwork has been completed. School organizations can also schedule meetings during this time. Clubs are allowed to have a certain number of meetings during this block per year. Every Wednesday is an assigned reading day for ALL students and staff. No one is allowed to go anywhere or do anything but read. This is to help students become better readers while at the same time improving their comprehension. Hopefully, this will translate into improved MAP scores. Students may read anything that is school appropriate. |
