| Convivial Neighbors is a group dedicated to reforming Utah's unreasonable liquor laws. Keep in mind that it would be impossible for any group to change all laws relating to liquor. There must be a reasonable compromise. With that in mind please rememeber that we are trying to change very few laws. The hardest part of this entire campaign was to agree on which laws to reform. It seemed that every individual would have liked to have seen different laws changed or reformed After a long discusion Convivial neighbors finally agreed on just a few laws which we believe are undoubtedly entitled to all citizens of utah. They are as follows: | ||||||||||||
| 1. We want to see a change in the way Utah taxes it's liquor/wine/beer. These taxes are exorbitantly higher than any other state, and it is unreasonably for the State of Utah to expect its citizens to pay these high taxes. It is simply unfair. With lower taxes Utah would see a wider selection brought in for the public to purchase. 2. We want state owned and operated liquor stores to operate on Sundays for a minimum of three hours. Only select liquor stores would have to open not every single one of them. 3. Our final request is to see an amendment to the law that restricts the importation of liquor/wine/beer into the State of Utah for pivate use. |
