| This "2-1/2 ton - 162" WB - 984 Cab - Cargo Body - Split Type Axles" 6x6 was ordered under Government Contract No. W-398-QM-7572 in 1940. The Government Registration Number on the hood is 412724, and the engine is a GMC 256 ci inline 6. Out of 448 ACKWX trucks under this Contract, this was the 390th one. This is the current condition (actually I've scraped a bit of the moss off) of the once unstoppable 6x6. It looks just as mean
as ever even in it's current state. It was built so tough that most of the parts are salvagable, and a restoration will happen...one of these days. (Hopefully sooner than later) |
