Note: While I have been writing fanfic for a while, this is my first TFATF fic. It was my love of the movie and of the wonderfully sensual Vin Diesel that spurred my interest in first reading TFATF fic. It was all of the wonderful writers of those fics that gave the characters even more life, and who made me want to write some TFATF fic myself. To all of you...
Feedback: Please, please-- you guys are the ones that keep me wanting to write. If you want more-- then feedback is the best way to get it.
Disclaimer: I dont own any of the characters or settings of The fast & The furious. I only enjoy them...
Part 1
It had been three agonizing months since that fateful day..... The day that had ultimately changed the teams life. Maybe they didnt like everything that had happened, but it seemed to be for the overall good, or so Letty thought.
It had taken Dom a week to find Leon and her. He had come like a broken animal lost in his own world, and Mia had been there by his side. The whole ordeal with Jesse had wounded him deeply, and Dom still carried the battle scar. The team just didnt seem complete without its "mad scientist." But hey, the past is just that-- the past.
Things had gotten better though. They were now living in Baja, Mexico and they had purchased a shop. Yeah, back to the mechanic work. --Hell though if they didnt love it. Dom was smiling again. Leon was happy. Even Vince was back. After a month in the hospital, he had been released. By some freak of nature, the truck driver had been unable to identify Vince, as he had a memory problem with remembering people and places. Thanks to God for that. Only Mia remained unhappy. She was missing Brian something fierce. Everyone could see it, but she remained quiet. Time had a way of working things out...
"Hell," Letty thought, "Dont kid yoself girl. You know that you aint so happy go lucky yoself either. Yeah, yous somewhat happy, but its still not right..."
Letty new what it was. Dom... God she loved him, but he still didnt see "HER." Somewhere along the way, Dom had lost the image of the girl he had fallen in love with. Letty didnt know exactly where it had gone wrong , only that the driver had steered of the road. Not that she even new Dom these days-- while he loved her with his body, his mind was tucked away into a dark corner --completely out of her reach.
Letty decided right then that it was time. It was time to get out and see who she really was and what she could be without Doms constant influence. She got up from the plastic lawn chair that she had been sitting in and took a good look around. The shop was like home. The peacefulness-- The sounds that an engine brought mixed with the smells of sweat, dirt, and oil.... She took a deep breath and turned on her heel heading for the house next door where the team resided.
Fortunately, no one was home. The guys had gone out for the evening, and Mia was at the beach --probably moping around. Letty started packing her few belongings into her old suitcase. She took clothes, her personal belongings, and a picture of her and Dom taken at the last years 4th of July bash. It was a happy moment. She had her arms slung over Doms broad shoulders with her chin resting in the crook between where his neck met his right shoulder. Both of them had these big goofy smiles pasted on their faces. It was a moment when those smiles had been genuine. Thats what had made her treasure the picture. Its edges were worn with the proof of her love.
Letty took a moment to find an old notepad and a pin. With them, she scribbled a message. She headed back downstairs and stopped only at the door-- to give the place a last farewell glance. With that done, she headed down the steps and towards her metallic violet Supra. Letty opened it up and tossed her things in the back. She gracefully stepped in and started the engine. She could feel the adrenaline rush through her fingertips with its tranquil vibrations. She put it into reverse and stepped lightly on the gas pedal, then knocked it into drive, and then-- she hit the gas with all her might. Dust and smoke filled the place where she had only seconds ago been....
