Part 2
Dom laughed as he pulled into the drive.
"Man," he thought, "tonight was a rush!"
Leon, Vince, and him had gone out for a few beers earlier and had just enjoyed the laziness of it all. Later, they had headed out on some back roads to have a little more fun. There was nothing like flying down a road as fast as the wind could carry... The feel of the wheel beneath your hands... and the metallic roar of the engine....
"Man what a rush!" Dom thought again as he stepped out of his SuperSport.
The guys had decided to go on to a local party and check out some "hotties", but he had just wanted to get home to Letty. Dom climbed the steps up to the old, white house and the screen door clanged loudly behind him.
Dom wondered into the kitchen to get a good cold glass of tea. He needed it to calm his nerves, as he couldnt help feeling as though something were amiss. After so ungracefully chugging down the entire glass of tea, leaving one glistening drop of sweetness slowly making its way down to the cleft of his chin, Dom wiped his face with the back of his hand and took off for upstairs. He took the stairs two at a time, grasping in the dark for his solace. But when he finally got to his room, it was void. The sheets on the bed were still rumpled from the last nights frantic activities and a fan blew crisp, cool air deliciously across the room and over his sweat dampened skin.
"Maybe shes in the bathroom," he thought and crossed the room to its entrance, but Letty was not there.
"Stop it you Pussy.... Shes just gone out is all...." He tried to force himself to believe, but he couldnt help but feel otherwise.
Dom decided to just get some sleep. Hed worry about all this shit in the morning when he could think clearer. He kicked off his boots, ripped of his tank, and unbuckled his leather belt letting his pants slide to the floor. The moonlight cast an eerie glow on the emptiness of the room. As he began to slide into bed, Dom felt something cool and crinkly under his side. He reached for it and ended up bringing out a piece of paper marred only a little by his intrusion upon it. He held it up to the glow of the moonlight to try and get a better look and ended up by the window where the moonlight, along with the faint dusting of the streetlights made it easier to make out the all too familiar scrawled handwriting....
Doms eyes moved slowly over each word letting it all sink in. After a few moments he looked up and out the window starring into the vast beyond --searching.... Soft chocolate eyes began to glaze over with a steel coating, and as he dropped the forgotten letter upon the floor, his right fist connected with the wall and proceeded to go right thru. He looked down then, as feeling began to rush his broken flesh. Blood ran down his knuckles and into his drawn hand.
Grazing upon the floor the moonlight hit the mark of his despair, the note which so simply read, "Dom, The road beckons --Letty."
And it was seemingly so, as the moonlight was the only witness to the scalding, crystalline tears that coursed down the un-trodden planes of his frighteningly cold, rock-solid face.....
