HOKKAIDO.
Well, actually, just Sapporo.
Sandwiched in between my stay in Tokyo was a short 5 day stay in Sapporo.  Kurt had moved there with Jun and I wanted to check out his pad and basically go get drunk for old times sake.

With a population of around 2.5 million, Sapporo is just slightly larger than Vancouver.  The similarities don't end there, as Sapporo is surrounded my mountains and the lifestyle here is much more relaxed than that of crazy-ass Tokyo.

The only strange thing here is that people aren't as used to foreigners as Tokyo-ites are, and especially foreigners like myself, an Asian who can speak perfect English.  Let's just say that with Kurt being blonde and me speaking very bad Japanese with a VERY heavy English accent, we were the subject of many glances and stares.
cause i'm a cowboy.
'Cowboy' is a local supermarket chain.

I met up with Maria, whose hometown is Sapporo, here we are at a tropical restaurant.  That guy in the toque is the waiter.
Me and Jun in Odori Park.
that's a spicy meatball!
A little too spicy for Kurt.
Here we are at a 'gaijin' club, 'gaijin' is an informal way of calling foreigners.  These clubs are meat markets for creepy foreigners.
Hard off!  Hard off!!
Click on 'Hard Off' to continue.
Hard Off is a chain of stores that sells 2nd hand items.  A continuous loop of its jingle can be heard inside.  It goes a little something like this, "Hard off!  Hard off!!...Hard off!!!!", seriously.
