| The Great Wall. It doesn't get more Chinese than this. This particular section of the wall was a little over an hour and a half outside of Beijing. I remember almost dozing off to sleep when I saw in the distance little lines on the mountains in the distance, when my eyes focused there were little lines on EVERY mountain, more focussing and I realised these little lines were the Great Wall. I was very, VERY impressed. |

| The Great Wall's construction was started in the Qin Dynasty (about 250 BC), when China was a newly united country. The construction of this impressive structure took three dynasties to complete, starting with the Qin, then Han, and finally the Ming. By the time the wall was finally finished (as in it's present form), it measured aprox.7250 km long, that's a distance stretching from Miami, Florida to the North Pole! The main reason this wall was built in the first place was to keep out the 'barbarians' in the north, there's actually no proof that this wall worked, but even if it was ineffective, it's still amazing. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
